Have you checked the fuel pickup for an obstruction? If it’s not able to get it out of the tank it can’t get to the IP.

There was a rash of the socks from the fuel pump coming apart and getting sucked up into the pickup and stopping flow.

Yeah it's pumping fuel passed the filter like crazy. But now I'm lost, just pulled out 4 of the glow plugs and tested them old school with wires to the battery and all got glowing hot, BUT, tested the ohms and all are 1.6 to 1.8 instead of 1.1 or less?? These glow plugs only have about 3 hours of idling on them

What GP control box do you have?

Also do you have a grounding harness installed?

It has the KDS box on it. I bought a harness but didn't put it in because it looked like there were several ground wires hooked at multiple locations including the block and can so I thought they put one in but it's in the harness so now I'm thinking maybe it wasn't the one that was installed afterwards to fix the grounding issue

I found several places on the internet who will rebuild them, which is the cheaper way to go. Just make sure they're reputable and don't just slap new parts and done. I've chosen to buy a full rebuilt one from eastern and then have mine rebuilt as a back up when I can afford it since it seems pretty hard to find the specific pump that mine has
Curious about how you removed the pump. Box ends for top bolts, swivel socket/extension for bottom or did you go with the OTC 6087 wrenches?

Inquiring minds, planning ahead and all that. Found a note on the CUCV forum about using a swivel socket; I don’t know what all is mounted on a 6.2L engine in a CUCV, if access to the pump bolts is the same as a HMMWV engine or not.

Thanks.

So just to give an answer on all this, it's the NEW Injection pump that's bad on this thing again unbelievably. I ended up bypassing the entire fuel system with a clear hose from a 5 gallon fuel can straight to the IP inlet with the can sitting level and it should easily pull the fuel from that and it won't pull any at all. Time to tear it off and send it back again. Maybe someday this thing will run.

Before you install new ip I would drop the tank and clean, flush fuel lines, install new fuel filter. Make sure that you don't have something in the tank killing your fuel system.

Thanks. That is my plan. Had my old pump rebuilt that I had sitting in the garage rebuilt this week and the guy that rebuilt this one thinks it's the biodiesel or vegetable oil mixture that the military was running that's still in the tank that seized it up. I'm still sending the other pump back that only ran for 4 hours. I still have a hard time believing that it was correctly rebuilt.

they have vegetable oil in the budget? I can see a convoy stopping at the Chinese buffet for fuel.

rebuilt DB2829-4523 Injector Pump help HMMWV M998

I'm chasing down the threads to find a person to rebuild my 6.2 DB2829-4523. I have a leak in the side fuel rocker arm. So, I found a place selling used IP's for 212$. Hoping it was in working order, I installed it to discover fuel leaking from the front. This leak looks like the IP drive shaft seal. Now I need to find a person to rebuild my spare. I did not see any references in the thread of messages. Please share....:p:-o

I know this question is coming in two years later, but what was the final fix???? I just put in a fairly fresh A2 motor but I have the same issue....power and fuel getting to the mechanical IP but nothing getting to the cylinders.....Hate to have to pull off the intake and the whole front of the motor but I am running out of options. I will be taking off the top of the IP in a day or two to see if the switch is bad but I do have clicking when power applied on both ports....

It was definitely a bad IP... twice. The best I have been able to figure out is that the bio fuel that was in it when I bought it has burned up the IP not once but twice and am getting ready to put another one in. There's nothing else in the system that would make it go out like that. Make sure your electrics on the top are working before you pull it out.

I had a local place in mesa Arizona rebuild this last one that I'm getting ready to install. My opinion only, but I'm not sure i would trust a $212 reman. This last rebuild just cost me $1000, for the rebuild of it.

Thanks for the reply.....not what I was hoping for, for you or me.....Trust me, I don't want to rip this all apart, I just finished putting in the new motor, this is the last thing I want to do...I will research all my options until I absolutely have to rip this all apart.....need five minutes with the engineer who thought this one up....so much for battlefield repairs.....

I am presently in New Jersey (soon to be, in October, relocating to Hatteras Island NC) but I have a great rebuild place in Morrestown NJ for the IP who does a great job on these things and hopefully tweak it a tad in the performance category....

You can run a hot wire to the top posts on the IP and see if you hear it clicking or not. If no clicks then that's the issue. You can also put a hose straight from the back of the IP to a jug of fuel and place it in the cab and turn it over and see if it sucks the fuel out. If it doesn't then you know the IP is bad.

I wish I did not hear the clicks but I did.....Have fuel at the IP....almost wish I didn't......Trying to avoid the inevitable....Thanks

Just cuz it’s clicking, does not mean the governor is allowing fuel to flow.
take the top of the pump off and see how easy it is too actuate the lever, should be super easy to move with your pinky finger and it should spring back easily, I’ve had them literally frozen and still get some fuel out the drain on top for the fuel return.
