A1 Cat 3126 Air Intake Specs

I'm trying to get accurate air Intake Specs for the Cat 3126 of a 1999 M1083A1 so I could convert it to Donaldson air filters.
I'm hard headed and don't want to just copy what others did without ensuring proper specs.

I've been trying to find this engine intake CFM specs and so far I could only find info on the Marine version.

The documents from Donaldson themselves don't seem to be accurate. I wanted to get specs from Caterpillar.

Donaldson doc says it can take up to 1355CFM @190HP 2200@PM, while on the 3116 it's only 618 @200HP 2600RPM

Even donaldson says: "Ideal Method Obtain from Engine Manufacturer. For the most accurate engine airflow specifications, Donaldson recommends using the intake airflow rate specified by the engine manufacturer "

Or you could double down to make sure you meet the CFM.

You do not need more than 1000 really. A 400hp big cam runs a 950cfm filter with an HT3B or t46 turbo.

The high hp c7 runs a s300 turbo. part # 228-3228

The 3126 is closer to an hx35.

More air is always better. I run a 1950cfm filter with an HT4B Turbo. 150cfm more than turbo input

Profo uses a m939 air box with a 900 cfm filter.

More air than the engine can take is never a bad thing

You can use the Borg warner matchbot program as well

Agreed, more is better in this case but having just bought 2 Donaldson filters myself, if I was going to get a mulligan, I'd buy only 1 of a really big filter. 1 really big filter one is less costly than 2 larger filters; upfront and in service... Of course, that ideology may or may not work out in how you want to mount said filter(s).

Simple solution is to use washable filters that are available from Donaldson.

when one wants to tuck a habitat box up next to the cab it's just to big in the way
move it. Habitat is usually taller than cab. so put it on front wall of box... or even in a serviceable compartment on the box. or put it lower like a M939 and make a wide thin snorkel with same overall capacity as the fat tube. Just matters where you want to spend your money.
