Has anybody replaced the engine fan with an electric cooling fan?
Any info would be great. Shutterstat and/or fan clutch might be going bad on my M923a2.
I was thinking it might be better to switch to dual electric fans to save HP and $.
thanks

This has been debated so many times it’s crazy, but in short my friend it’s not cost effective to convert to electric fans, and the heat rejection of electric fans can’t compete with mechanical

Standard electric fans will not pull enough. Hydraulic fans or some of the turbine fans used on semis will work but they are pricey.

You can rebuild your fan clutch for cheap sourcing each part thru ebay.

@Swamp Donkey could probably supply you with most of the parts.

Shutterstats are easy to rebuild

Fan parts list is in the technical manual section under 24p parts sheet.

Can you or do you know some one who rebuilds the fan clutch, I think its a little over my head.
Talk with swamp donkey. Its pretty easy. Just need to make a jig to line the bolt holes up. Not too difficult to take apart and find what you need that is broken

I gave up on the shutterstat and went electric controlled IMG_9065.jpgAdjustments.jpgIMG_9062.jpg I can turn the fan off/on manually or leave to operate as the stock shutterstat didIMG_9066.jpg

Nice
Are you happy with it?
Yep, works fantastic, especially in the hills. I use it manually a lot more than I thought I would.

Took the turbo gauge from your kids Atari huh? At least you used flange head bolts bro. ;)
Yeh well... there is the overheating after “playing” for more than 5 hrs! I have another one I’ll give you, when you get finished putting your motor in...
