So I'm thinking about starting up the monumental process of locating all the items I need to bolt on a Braden LU-4 winch to my M37. I know all the bits and pieces I will need, and will have to dig deep to locate all the miscellaneous items.

Does anyone have an idea of how much this is going to run me to buy ALL the pieces, parts, bolts.... anything/everything needed to turn my truck from W/OW TO W/W. (winch, bumper ends, extension brackets, driveshaft, PTO unit, engagement lever, locking plate, winch data plate... and anything else I might be missing)

Looking to see what this is going to cost me.

Thoughts, ideas... please.

Thanks.

FWIW, I bought a parts truck for $1,400. Harvested all the winch/PTO parts and resold the truck (now WO/W) for $900. Spent another $350 on cable and misc repair parts (winch was kinda beat up and needed new worm gear shaft bearings and a new brake band housing).

So probably roughly $1,000 once the truck was sitting there with the winch all nicely installed, painted and ready for tasking.

Buying a parts truck with a winch is what I did. But you have to find a truck then get it home. Finding all the parts and shipping takes lots of time, but having a truck to pick parts from helps a lot. Selling or trade parts helps you meet other people into mv .

I have a winch truck. Everything was there. But still spent over $700 on fully restoring it. The most difficult thing to find was the joints for the drive shaft. Since you are starting with nothing, factor in the PTO and controls and a clutch and trans rebuild. You will want the trans out on the bench to install the PTO and "while you're in there".

I have NOS LU-4 Winches still in the crates if anyone needs one. Just shoot me a PM, I can try to figure out shipping for it.
