Rubber mallet does clear it up. Proper disassembly and cleaning is best... but Ive gotten more than a few to work with a small nudge of the rubber mallet. Your mileage may vary.

It is called a "Love Tap" where it ain't working and now it is - and then it gets fixed when the calamity is over I think a lot of these machines sit more than they are used. Contactors will get gummy and sticky from sitting and being exposed to "the elephants of the weather". Contact cleaner helps too but like you said, a tap will make it go again until something better can be done.

The building behind us is a Dispatch Center for concrete trucks. They have a CAT generator sitting outside on a concrete pad inside a fence enclosure. They are committed to it working right, so every Friday morning at 0700 the generator kicks off and runs for an hour. Talking to their maintenance guy, the best thing they ever did was to setup the REGULAR RUN and TEST. We are in the middle of town, so idiots in cars knock down utility poles regularly and a functional generator is important to their business.

Yes... Love tap is the optimal wording.... and notice that I also stated that if the love taps work, then take it apart to see what is causing it to hang up, so it can be fixed properly.

Actually, its real simple. Remove the K1 from the set. Take the K1 apart. apply 24 VDC to X&Y terminals. Wires 150B and 152D. The contactor should close. When you take the guts out of the tin box, you will normally see if it needs cleaning up.

Im in Connecticut, I dont travel but I do have parts.
What contactor do you have in this set, (brand), Contact Industries, or Ametek?
You probably dont have a bad switch you have a bad contactor.
Ametek is known for this issue.
I have several Contact Industries contactors.

How do I find out what one I have I am new to this and need help I will gladly pay for any and all parts and help

Actually, its real simple. Remove the K1 from the set. Take the K1 apart. apply 24 VDC to X&Y terminals. Wires 150B and 152D. The contactor should close. When you take the guts out of the tin box, you will normally see if it needs cleaning up.

Download ARMY TM 9-8115-642-24 from the TM section and do a search on K1. This TM will show you how to find the K1 - ac circuit interrupter relay (K1),

Our suggestions about going to look at the TM books is not because we don't want to make this easy.
Goal is to give you the ability to fix this and other things next time - and maybe help the next guy...

Once you have that TM downloaded, searched to the spot for K1, and have the picture in front of you - things will get a LOT easier.

Ok I have the TM printed and man was it a lot I located the chapter 2.23 and page 2-87 but it was not much information

If you head to PDF Pg 132, you will see 2-61 (AC Circuit Interrupt Relay). In the steps below it, it calls out "Inspect AC circuit interrupter relay (4, FIGURE 2-16) ". If you scroll a page or two further into the PDF you will see the exploded diagram with #4 called out.

So, what you want to know? It tells you how to check it. It tells you how it works in the system. It is a "Pluck and Chuck" Item. So The -24P will not show you what it looks like inside. If you really, really, really want to know before hand what it looks like, I think I can did up something very much like what yours will look like. But its not exactly the same. What else do you want to know?

This is very much like what you have. Big difference is that this type has a cannon plug. Yours not. Both were even made by the same Company if I recall right. If you want a list of parts, I can post that too. But do not think its a big help.
