I’d like to know the correct engine oil type. I’d prefer to know what it is or what it’s suppose to be
Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
I greatly appreciate your response! I’m new to this truck I’m trying to learn everything I can.The military would have used 15w40. I have always used that oil in every diesel I have owned, including CUCVs and HMMWVs with the 6.2L or 6.5L engines.
Thank you as well this very informative ! Y’all have a blessed dayRotella 15-w40 is what you will find at Walmart and just about any parts store. If no turbo I would suggest the T4 non synthetic. If you have a turbo or plan to let it sit for months between uses then the T6 synthetic might be better for your engine.
You can use any brand. I just know Rotella is stocked just about everywhere and is meant for diesels. Whatever you get make sure it says heavy duty diesel oil. That is the important walk away from this thread.
10w40 standard motor oil? Mobil does not make a 10w40 diesel oil.Recommend also using Wix filters.
Just like Oils, there is a difference in quality among the brands.
I use Mobil 1 Motor Oil 10-40w and Wix filters on everything I own.
Everyone has their own personal preference.
SF/CC or SF/CD engine oilI’d like to know the correct engine oil type. I’d prefer to know what it is or what it’s suppose to be
Mobil 1 Delvac10w40 standard motor oil? Mobil does not make a 10w40 diesel oil.
Is Mobil 1 10w40 also a C rated oil?
On Mobils site, it does not show a C rating for 10w40
Funny, right on the fill cap, it specifies SF/CC or SF/CD oil. On the visor is states, use an oil that satisfies BOTH SF/CD/CC.
0w40 meets CF and up to SP, (BOTH exceeding the requirements ) just some food for thought.
ThanksMobil 1 Delvac
It’s their Diesel oil and there are several different ones to choose from.
Fully Synthetic, Partial Synthetic, etc.
Just throwing this in ... don't confuse those terms with their english language meanings. By law, partial synthetics are sold as "full" synthetics; "partial" is not a thing on oil labels; but, "blended" represents an oil with a little syntjetic blended in.Fully Synthetic, Partial Synthetic, etc.
