Hey 5 ton folks! I contract my 5 ton on fires. I love the truck, however, when working fires I need to shift the transfer case from hi to low about 20x a day (because of the no low reverse thing)
Mine has a whole sh!t load of trouble shifting from hi to low, and can take a lot of fiddling to get it to go, which I can't have when fires are waiting for water!
I'm looking for suggestions and solutions. I've read about all I can on the subject but am looking for people who have fixed this problem and what the solution was!
I've seen things about removing a solenoid, switching air lines, removing a spring, airing down (which also takes too much time when fires are waiting)....
Any suggestions or recommendations that worked for you would be highly appreciated. Fire season is comin in the west!
