This was too funny not to share. I received a picture from the director of the museum. Just a picture, no context.



It appears my good deed to ask for a picture of George in front of the radar dome set off the alarms and triggered the security team. I guess I should have warned security that a truck from the 50's might pull up outside the gate. If you visit the dome, it will be known. Shortly after the security pic......I get the real pic from the new owner out doing good deeds. George the 11/7/56 M135, 113505503 at the 1963 Alsask joint U.S./ Can. radar dome around 40 years after the last Early Deuce would have served at the dome. Happy 40th George!



I also received pics from some wild drone pilot camped at the G749 farm. The swamp has never looked so blue.

Don't get me started on cameras......ooops, you did. The dome cameras are also set up with two way comms. The director can speak to folks near the site. Imagine sneaking down a side road to empty some water only to have a voice from no where tell you to put it away. It's also easier to calibrate cameras when subjects stay 6 feet apart.

.......Talk about staying 6' feet apart........ It turns out.....Gracie........wasn't shacked up with a new guy. It just so happens...... Gracie.......was shacked up.........with another M207. Gracie.......has a sister....just a little more than 100 apart out of the delivery room. George had to be parked 6 feet away just to keep the herd from multiplying. Gonna need a fire truck to keep those three apart.



You can see from the pics the 'other' M207 had some........enhancements. Looks like she's open to talk about it so when the steam comes back off the pasture, we'll ask for some......well.....more revealing photos. This thing comes right out of the middle of the old crank. Any of the other girls have anything like this?

After 900 km and 2 baths the Fort Mac power pak pulled in beside Piglet today.



Why is it that every part of an engine is designed to throw spray back in your face when you're pressure washing? I ate decades of dirt. Left a decent mess in the truck box too but the Simple Green does a great job. It's a 302 blue block.

I had to find the info. There is some crazy stuff up North.



Didn't know this would get done but there it is......done.



Not many pics again. Two guys, 4 hours, relaxed, lots of breaks and the Power Plant in Piglet is Pulled. The most time consuming part are the 30 Torus bolts.



Found out the 1952 CDN did not have the side slot in the hood or the bar on the window post to hold up the hood. That was new. Now we need to look to see when the XM time quit with the hoods and the hood keeper upper was created. This 1952 also had the rear view mirror so it's a little different beast.



We're doing a little transmission sortin' and when I was hunting for parts in the North I saw this thing sticking out of the dirt.....the last 3 pics down there. The only thing exposed was this side cover so I asked the lopo boys if I could take it. It's funny what makes people laugh but when they quit laughing they said yes. Looks kinda familiar.

Found some interesting yellow paint marks and the rebuild tags off the Piglet power pak transmission. Not sure if the yellow paint was from in service maintenance or someone just got lose with a paint brush but here it is. She's a 65 rebuild from the military.



Heard a little tip to take the tool away from the work area using some long extensions. For the first time I had a long distance relationship with a nut and it was a real pleasure.



There it is, off.

I believe your correct in thinking they (the military rebuild units) used this Yellow marking to denote a unit had been rebuilt once before. I've never seen a transmission rebuilt twice by the military. I guess this was their way to make sure a rebuilt unit got surplused out if it failed again.

While I agree with your statement about the world in general, I was referring to actual forest fires burning down "Jasper" and the surrounding countryside.

I thought the Fort Mac part of this engines story was schpectacular but it just got better. The rebuild tag comes from a shop in Edmonton, of all places. A fella familiar with old things says Gopher painted a lot of engines blue. The schpeculation is, this was an 'after service' rebuild so it didn't need to be grey. I think it needs to be grey.



Doin' a thing off-grid is different than doin' a thing on a shop floor but we're getting the power pak cleaned up. LMRmopar doesn't know I washed the family engine yet so let's keep it to ourselves. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/my-1952-m135-build.208354/
