Hey Guys,
kind of in a bind i have an 802a up on some remote property that was running great last time I was up here about a month ago and last time I went to start it the starter just clicked as if it died and when I went to try it again I noticed K16 smoked , I went home bought a new starter and new relay , I’m up here now the new starter is in , worked great from dead crank switch but went to start it from main switch and relay just smoked and when I crank it the relay blows won’t start, I have limited tools with me but gonna see if I can dig up a tester and start testing any ideas on where to start would be great,
thank you

Since you say it is a remote property have you checked all of the wiring for rodent damage? Possible couple chewed wires shorted together or to ground.

I’m checking but I don’t see anything and now if I connect the batteries it just cranks no matter what position the dead crank switch is in

Sounds like the starter relay welded itself shut. Once the magic smoke gets out it is impossible to get it back in. I would concentrate on wherever you saw the smoke coming from. That is definitely going to be a problem area and may give clues as to what caused it. Are the heavy grounds all clean and tight on the starter? If the main ground is loose the power will try to find and alternate route through lighter wires.
