Help! I installed a new set of glow plugs and started right up at 24 degrees. A few days later 48 degrees and took forever to start with a nice white smoke show lol! My glow plug light comes on as it should (no flashing). When I pull a boot from one of the glow plugs and test it, it has 24v and never tapers down like it should. Is this a smart box issue, GPC issue, voltage regulator issue or something else?? TIA!!

It is NOT a voltage regulator issue. Completely separate system.
Usually a smart box issue.
GPC just tells the smart box if the engine is warm enough to need glow plugs or not, but doesn't have any direct control over them.

yes the light goes out some where around 6 second.

What glow plugs did you use? The proper ones, or the Chinese ones?
Also: get a glow plug removal tool. Chances are one or several of your plugs are swelled up and won't removed easily.

when my smart box died it did the same thing. Light worked as it should but the glow plug had a constant 24v that fried them all. I modified my smart box to make it a manual controller that way it never happens again and the cost was around $100 bucks.

Those are the good ones, so you can rule out cheap glow plugs. Signs point to start box.
If you decide to replace it, get the Camotek.

The question should be, what size wrench did you use to install them? If it was 10mm, they're cheap junk. If 3/8" then they're probably OEM.Those are the good ones, so you can rule out cheap glow plugs. Signs point to start box.
If you decide to replace it, get the Camotek.

Black Dog only sells the proper Wellman ones, so that's how you know without measuring. Had he said "certain other vendor" who I shall not name, I'd say that was the issue.

Rebuild your box. My signature line contains the instructions. It will be much more robust afterwards.
