Took 11 LONG segments to make the hull of the DUKW.

After reviewing a lot of pictures of actual DUKW vehicles I decided to make some modifications to my model since the plans are not accurate. I was able to curve the 2 front corners. I also beveled the engine cover. Steering in on left side now instead of centered. Now has 2 seats instead of 1 in center. Front windshield in now split into 2 piece. The model will not be perfect but will be closer to the actual vehicle.

Those upgrades definitely make the DUCKW model a lot more realistic. I wonder if the co-pilot was manning a .50 while they were "headed in" for a landing. According to a quick lookup on the web, about one in four DUKWs came with a .50-caliber Browning heavy machine gun on a ring mount on the right side. There is also a hand mounted search light on the drivers side of the cockpit. There is a small propeller under the back bottom if you have a way to create one...
