Hello everyone at Steel Soldiers. I am sorry but I'm currently not in the military so you can kick me if this is strict military only forum. If not, Then thank you. I was looking at govliquidation.com and saw they had M1009 up for auction and was told by someone (not govliquidation.com) that they don't sell there items to private owners.... Is this true? I would love to get a M1009 from the auction. :-D

Thanks,
Andy

they can and do, I'm new here myself and the support on this site is awsome. I don't find that is exclusive to military members so no worries Andy

Welcome Andy, no this isn't a military only forum. It is the best place on the internet for anyone wanting info about military vehicles :) GL sells exclusively to those in the private sector, if anyone in the Govt. wanted it you would never see it. Feel free to ask any questions you have although a search before you post is usually quicker than waiting for replies. I think just about anything you could ever want to know has been covered at some point.

Ok so the blazer that is up for auction on the site I'm able to bid on it and take it home then? That's how I see your message.

Well.......pretty much. You gotta register with GL and give them a credit card for them to charge your win to. Then you actually win it, then you fill out the EUC and wait.....and wait some more and then if you are lucky you take it home. Not usually a quick process but if you want a 1009 its GL or private sale.

So you say I pay for it and they charge me and they decide whether or not I can take it home after they already take my money?:-x

Yup, isn't this a fun game ??? I'm not the guy to ask on GL dealings but if you type GL into the search box i'm sure you will come up with several days worth of reading.

GL will have you fill out some paperwork to check your background. You can bid on gsaauctions.org and if you win, it can be picked up right away. What part of MO you from.

Kansas City Seems like your Illinois so your close to St. Louis? My background is clean no speeding tickets nothing from the police except a automobile crash when they came to ask question about what happened.

Ok, here's how the process works from start to finish...

You register with GL and give them a CC number to bill anything you win to.
You bid on the vehicle or property of your choice
You win said item
If your item is a Demil B/Q item you will have to fill out an End Use Certificate (EUC) to prove that you are an upstanding citizen who will not use the military design item against the government or in support of terrorists
Once your EUC clears the system, you are sent an invoice for your property and billed accordingly (can take weeks to months to clear so make sure the funds stay available)
You then have 2 weeks to clear your property off of the GL site (sometimes more if you coordinate with the site manager) or they consider the property abandoned and take it back for resale (keeping your money of course)
If your property is a vehicle, you fill out a request for the SF97 (Government Certificate to Obtain Title)
You wait 2-6 months for your SF97 to clear the system and be sent to you
You can now get a title for your vehicle from your local DMV so that you can legally drive it

Doesn't this all sound like fun? :-D

Good luck,
Joe

you dont have to be in the military to post here but I will warn you that if you plan to modify your vehicle such as a 12v conversion, lift, bigger tires, axle swaps, or alter anything that is not to mil spec you will be better off looking to other forums.:wink:

Naa none of that keeping it stock on it. I would get a civilian version of K5 blazer for the lift and bigger tires.
