over time the seals get stiff and start wearing a grove so the seal is no longer tight against the krank and under pressure the seal will leak, you can get a repair kit that places a sleave over the wear spot and a new seal will fix it

Speedi-Sleeve

This is the one you need, the one I bought. But Napa is the most expensive, if you shop around you should be able to find it cheaper.
Amazon = $67.21 but they're temporarily out of stock.
WBDS = $100.21 currently 2 in stock
Those are the only other sources I could find. I'm going to watch the Amazon site to see if they restock. I won't be able to order it for another 2 weeks or so.

The more I get into this truck, the more I can tell it wasn't taken care of.

Did you look on ebay? I just bought 10 sets of bearings and races for my deuce for half the price of just the bearing at napa.

You should measure your crank, :razz:, to make sure you get the proper sleeve. The 99499 is the one that fits my crank.

I was thinking about that yesterday, but actually forgot about it. Just curious, what did you use to measure yours? The slide-rule type caliper or tong looking ones? Pardon my lack of technical terms.

Just a quick update, I bought a caliper a week or so ago. The crank measured out to 4.997", I took it 3 times just to make sure and always came out the same. Sleeve is on the way and hopefully the truck will be running again soon.

I got the retainer off and had the two extra holes drilled in it. The new seal is in the retainer, I'm just waiting for my sleeve now before putting everything back together.
