Good looking and 5 micron filters. They do not appear to be anti-drain.

I just put them on today, so we will see. I don't think they make an anti-drainback filter this size, but if they do it would have saved me some work. I made my own valve in the adapter to keep the filters full, so I can use any comercial filter and not worry about if it is anti-drainback or not. I let it sit a couple hours and I still got instant oil pressue, but I'm gonna let it sit for a week or two and see how it does.

If they are in fact 5 micron filters, they will need to be changed often. Monitor the pressure drop across them so that you don't end up with a bypass valve opening and no filtration at all. For fine filtering, use a bypass filter and keep the full flow ones at 25 microns....

It will be interesting to see how they work out. Bjorn may well be right in suggesting a by-pass with this 5 micron filter. I would hate to lose filtering for a period of time!

Well I was wondering myself, but like an idiot when I drained the oil I only got maybe 3 to 3.5 gallon out. I just checked the oil last time I drove it and it was full. I know it should hold 5.5 gallons, but I couldn't figure out why I didn't fill up the 5 gallon can I was draining it into. I was a little too excited to see if my new filter setup worked, so instead of finding out where the other 2 gallons went to, I filled it back up with new oil, but ended up over filling it. After I ran it for a minute, I started looking at my other truck and spare engine I have thinking my truck has the wrong dipstick or something, but all three were the same. So I came inside and researched on here, but everyone said 22qts like it says on the dash. Then I saw it, "remember there are 2 drain plugs", doh! Needless to say I drained some out of the other drain plug and got it to the proper level, but now my new oil is already black from getting mixed up a little. I know how the oil pan is made it would have two drain plugs, but I didn't even think about it. It didn't help that this was the first time I changed the oil on either of my deuces, but I guess I won't forget now. So through all the over filling and draining, I have no idea, but I would guess maybe an extra gallon.

These filters have all the same specs as the 1792XD filter that ODIron's kit uses and I know his was tested, so this can't be any worse.

I think the OD Iron kits are bypass filters not primary.

No he also sells a full flow remote filter system using the Wix 1792XD filter.
USMC6062, Nice work. I bet those filters will handle just fine. They should have enough contaminant capacity to continue filtering @ spec for full oil change intervals.

I haven't decided yet if I want to try and build these to sell or not. If I decide not to I will share everything I got, but for now I'm not gonna tell all. I have to get the machining done more resonable. I did these on my lathe, which is a 1943 Leblond Regal, and it took around 20 to 30 hours to make both of them. I don't think anyone in there right mind would pay me to make them a set. If I can get them done on a CNC machine for a decent price, I might try selling them. Of course the first one that someone buys will see how they're done and the secret will be out anyways.

A man after my own heart for sure! I work for the local CAT dealer as a field mechanic. I wonder on your choice of filter though. The 1R1807 has the same rating, is atleast a 3rd smaller so it wouldnt be so tight. To my knowledge Cat dosnt offer an anti-drainback filter, all of em hang down. As far as capacity, no problem there. You wont have any problem with plugging, I dont think people realize how much crud you have to put into the filer to plug it. Keep us in the loop on your findings
