Ya but the huge ass filters are part of the coolness!
Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
A man after my own heart for sure! I work for the local CAT dealer as a field mechanic. I wonder on your choice of filter though. The 1R1807 has the same rating, is atleast a 3rd smaller so it wouldnt be so tight. To my knowledge Cat dosnt offer an anti-drainback filter, all of em hang down. As far as capacity, no problem there. You wont have any problem with plugging, I dont think people realize how much crud you have to put into the filer to plug it. Keep us in the loop on your findings
This is a common question/issue. Couldn't you just instal an inline one way flow check valve? Could be added to the plumbing and it would work with the stock filters or any aftermarket unit. I haven't looked at it yet, but I will take a look today. They do not appear to be anti-drain.
I was thinking the same thing. Two filters in parallel would share the pressure... in theory. I'm by no means an expert on the Duece though. If the deuce pump is capable of 26 GPM it would seem that two filters in parallel capable of handling at least 13 GPM or greater would do it. So the 1R1807 should do it as far as volume is concerned I would think. Cat filters are good stuff but a little expensive I bet. I like your adaptors, very well done.
I tried to find out if they are parallel or in series, but couldn't find it in the TM's I looked at.
Cat filters in general are pretty reasonable. Actually lower than lots of aftermarket ones that are of lesser quality, on top of being lesser specifications to begin with....The cost on the filters was way cheaper than I expected...
