I am starting restoration on a 1954 M-37 my priority is the wiring harness what are the best resources for wiring harnesses?? I am looking for a reliable driver not full perfect restoration. I found the guy in Maine. I am looking for experienced opinion.

I have read that the good harness is $750-. I consider myself a good truck wiring person. Thats a weeks pay and I still have to do the directionals and tail lights to get a sticker.

Your Input would be greatly appreciated

There's another guy in Rhode Island you could try. They make all types of harnesses to factory specs. Don't have any idea on cost, but it might be worth a call.

Just A Guess

How much does the vintage harness with the turn signals cost?
If you go to their page, you should be able to get a current quote w/ turn signals? I have met them a couple of few times, the national @ Ft. Lee & Aberdeen, very GOOD folks to deal with!

Bought my harness from Maine it is excellent, original and comes with a detailed schematic, all the wires have the little metal number code on them. Anyone can install this harness. They will also install anything else you want such as flashers, inside dome lights, just ask.Cost about $800:-D:-D

We bought a front and rear complete from Sid Beck, you can find him hanging out on the G741.org site with the other M37 gang. I actually have a complete rear that we ended not using. I can dig the paperwork out for the cost - but it was less than $100. Send me a pm if interested. Keith

I used the wiring harness from vintage wiring of Maine, could not have been happier. Great product at around $800 it was a no brainer to install and everything worked once installed, unlike before. There is nothing worse than completing a project to find it has electrical bugs.

Yea the packards. None of the lights or gauges work anyway. So we will be replacing everything eletrical. I'd like to swap over so i won't have to keep other lights, switchs etc.. in the shed. Id even like to swith to a 60AMP alternator. We will be installing a NATO style slave connection like all the other vehicles and gensets. Just to keep things simple.

I can appreciate what VWM does, and it's a great well made product, I managed to meet him along with Rick Larson at Aberdeen a few years ago, but the $$ was to much for me. Painless was a good route for me. JH2Cents,

Joe sold VWM to Mike. I have one of the last of Joe's harnesses. The wiring, looming is great. The bushings on the Douglass connectors are garbage. They have all failed (twice). I will be installing a new one from Mike on a truck this week. We'll see if it is any better. I do have a solution coming for the junk bushings.

Wire Harness

Nope, I used an 6 or and 8 piece Painless kit, didn't hook up the third break lamp, so I used 7 legs of the harness, it is a sight to behold, I'll try and post a few pics if there are none of it in the gallery. It was so inexpensive I'm embarrassed to say how much it was. I forgot to mention I have a good bit of odds and ends from my original harness, Douglas connectors as well as a Mc Callister (sp) crimping tool, I'd be will to part with.
