Hey gang,

The wife and I are driving from Laughlin back to Vegas to catch a flight home when I noticed a deuce with it's hood up at a truck stop in Searchlight NV. I stopped and talked with the guy for a bit. His compressor went out on the downgrade heading towards Laughlin. He has been stuck there for 3 days waiting on a compressor from Idaho Motor pool. Poor guy is there with his wife, kid, dog, etc....bleeding $$$ every day. He said the compressor would be there today UPS. UPS botched up and sent it to Needles. I couldn't help any other way besides reach out to my SS family.

Anyway, he didn't know about S.S. so I gave him the web site. If any SS folks are by there see what you can do to help the fella and his family out. They seemed like good people.

Well shoot!!!! We have a bunch of guys here who have experience doing all sorts of crazy stuff like jumping out of airplanes, can't we get somebody in a deuce with a towbar at a minimum?

Buy a 12 volt battery, a 12 volt tire inflater/compressor, tap it in under the dash and go. . .

:ditto:

Rat brought his home with a frozen compressor. Hooked a gasser compressor in via the gladhand. No way I would hang out there with the wife and kids that long. Bummer deal.

Thats a bad situation. Thanks to Big Mike the odds of him being there stuck like that again have been significantly reduced by introducing him to Steel Soldiers. I can think of a dozen folks at least who would next day a compressor even if they had to strip it off a truck. I've been known to next day parts at premium$$$ to help out a fellow in need. Hopefully when he gets through this experience and if his wife lets him keep the truck, he can join the fellowship. Big Mike, did you fetch his phone number? I'd like to reach out to him and see if he's got what he needs.

Does anyone know if this was resolved?? I am guessing that this guy doesn't know all the tricks to get it going. I learn new things from this site all the time.

Regarding the tire inflator idea, he said he tried that but the tire compressor died after a few minutes.

I wish I had taken his phone number. I'm trying to find the phone number of the service station.

I found the station!

He's at:
Terrible Herbst gas station
670 US hwy 95
Searchlight NV
702-297-1080

I called the station and they said he was still there. Apparently the compressor he ordered from Idaho Motor pool was the wrong one. The attendant said they'd been trying to get it to work all day yesterday.

I gave the attendant my phone number. I'm waiting for a call back.

Please get him on the horn Big Mike. He may have a one lunger and they sent a 2 lunger. They look different but completely interchangeable.

My idea was a gas powered compressor. That has to be cheaper than 4 or more days in the middle of nowhere. At least now he has the SS site info and we have people working to get them unstuck. I'm sure it will turn out ok now.

L just hung up with the station. women said they are still there with no parts. I left my number and she said she will give it to them. The only compressor i have is on a truck, but i will rip it off if it takes that. She said they are not happy and they will be in soon. I guess its only 9 in the morn there. Anyone close at all?? She comfirmed wife and kid with him.. I will update if i hear anything. I'm sure others will also, hopefully someone who is closer...
