Ok, a year ago I wanted to deliver dominoes pizza in a CUCV, since then I defected to papa johns, have had both a gasoline 84 K5, and a gasoline 75 C20, and now I am ready to get a cucv, and there is nothing you can do to stop me! :p

I have been delivering in my 75 C20 for the last few months, and it isnt bad. The turning radius sucks, and parking in apartment complexes requires.... Skill. Now that we are coming into the winter, I have my Jeep, but I have been offroading it every week, and worry that I will break it, then 5 mins later the heavens will open and dump a billion inches of snow on my home town, and my boss will cry if all I can say is, "I broke the jeep"

I plan on buying a M1008 or M1028 A1, (Dont want the duelly) and towing it back home with my C20, then selling the C20 shortly after. The plan after that? Get the CUCV road ready and licensed, then drive it everywhere for two weeks except for work, that way I am sure it is dependable. Next step is buy a steering wheel club, and plan on leaving it running *pretty much* the entire evening. I still think I will get more delivery's per dollar than I have been in my current truck.

Next step, get set up to run Bio-diesel or Vegi oil, and cut costs down to almost nothing, and show them prius ****ers how to go green correctly!

Im excited, this is going to be great. Im prolly going to bid on this current lot that is on GL now, the ones on Fort Meade. I have two questions!

1: Will there be any one doing a visual inspection of any of these? If so, please post up your observations of these trucks while your there, or pm just me. :p

2: If I win one of these trucks, what is the approximate time line till it will be ready to be picked up, and what is the maximum amount of time I can wait to go pick it up? I want to build a bit of a plan.

Everyone high-five me for finaly bidding on one these awesome sauce trucks!

:idea:1st get an account on Govliquidation so you can bid. 2nd be prepared to fill out an EUC End Use Certificate - This can take awhile so find someone to help you fill it out properly to move the EUC along quickly. Also be prepared to wait on the EUC once it's submitted - Especially being your first on your account. The fastest way to get the EUC is to have a GOOD FRIEND buy it for you that has purchased on GL before! Your choice.

the times to pick up the pick-up are usually listed on the auction page. click where is says event info. sometimes you have to call. i never had to wait on my EUC, because they didnt list my m1028 as a Demil Q??!! oops, shhh. i picked it up a week after i won it, my first time. Wright Patterson

Ok, so when you say a long time, 2 weeks? A month? or do you mean a really long time, like 4-6 months?

A month I can deal with.

So is there anything that says, "truck must be retrieved within X amount of time after auction is completed"?

EDIT: just read on the site, nvm.

So I dont fill it out till I win the auction? Then, I mail it in, they verify i live at my house, (how?) and then they say, "get your pansy ass in here and take this truck home"

EDIT2: I get it now, never mind....

Time Frame on a GL Truck for the first time Buyer.

After winning said truck you have a few days to fill out an EUC and pay for the truck, then they submit your EUC to the government (up to and usually close to 45 days for your first one), then you call and arrange a pick-up of said truck( usually a 2 week timeframe +/-).If Washington state won't let you title with an invoice from GL, you are going to have to wait on that too and spend another $60 too. I personally think you should look closer to home. A 3-4 day drive across the country both ways is only enjoyable to a few people that I know of. I'd personally look on at least your side of the Mississippi or try the surplus market. Check auto trader, try GSA, E-bay, an ad at the local VFW's/Legion Halls. Pay a little more up front and get a vechicle that you could test drive and not have to take a chance/wait on GL for. This is only my opinion and you may get a hell of a deal from a GL auction, but I'd check around locally first.

3 weeks to 8 weeks normally and there is yes a dead line as to filling out the EUC and the sites have there own designation for pickup time after the EUC is complete. If you have a Military Vehicle purchased through Govliquidation you would understand, otherwise listen to the ones that know.

The problem with auctions is you can't go for a test drive. Be prepared to fix something. With GSA they get most of their trucks from some agency turnback. The agency didn't pay for it so they aren't going to pay to fix it. They give it back when it's broke and it goes up for auction. You will get your title right away so there's no wait. That's one plus. The odds that it needs repair are higher with GSA than GL in my opinion. Of course your mileage may vary.

Loco_Hosa,
If your profile is correct, and you're located in Graham, Washington (-State I presume) and you're going to bid on green iron located at Ft. George G. Meade, Maryland (between Washington DC & Baltimore, MD) have you factored recovery time/cost/logistics & emergency contingincies into your "Master Plan":?:

Just my 2cents

Good luck on your successful bidding, processing and recovery:!:

Im buying from GL, and honestly looking forward to the recovery and repair of the vehicle the most!

My master plan is to have money set aside, take a week and a half off work, and grab my buddy, and set off on this cross country trip. We will take turns driving my pickup, then arrive and sleep in some cheap crap hole of an motel. The next day, rent a u-haul flat bed and hitch up, then load the new truck onto the trailer, and point it back home.

Things that could go wrong:
My truck could break
I might have to drive solo (Not a big deal)

I know its a long trip, but I cant wait! I plan on being a long haul truck driver when I turn 21, just because it sounds like good money, and a good time.

I plan on getting tripple a, so they could at least tow me up to 100 to a shukz and I could fix (or band aid) any minor problem.

I have alot of faith in my orange truck, the engine runs great. Minor oil burning, but not bad. New starter, new alternator, and new batterys. I would bring tools for minor repairs, and check trans fluid and oil every stop. If I were to blow up a deferential, trans, or head gasket I would be in a world of hurt though.

If the CUCVs had a regular hitch that would put my mind at ease a little.

EDIT: There is a good chance because I will not WIN the auction in Fort Mead, I wont bid very high of a truck that far away when I dont have a whole slew of cash yet. Each paycheck I will put aside and bid a little higher on each one that shows up on GL, and alot higher if I find on in the central or western part of the Us.

Sounds as though you have thought it through. Since youhad not originally referred to the distance etc. I was compelled to ask. Thanks for sharing your logic and again I wish you the BEST of success.

My wife and I just did an Estate Recovery (Mom died in April) to the NYC suburbs from Texas. Made the trip the last weekend of July. Flew in, rented a Budget truck, loaded heirlooms, furniture, antiques, tools etc, then drove back via Gettysburg, PA & St. Louis, MO for some sightseeing.

It was fun/hard/educational/emotional/REPEATABLE when it comes time to do a distant recovery. Depending upon what's won at auction, the fly-in/rent truck (and trailer?) cuts the travel time for the first leg of the trip drastically. Only problem then is the lack of tools.

Again..... GOOD LUCK AND BEST WISHES:!:

Last batch of trucks that sold in California were going for $200-300 each... it is also a lot closer than Maryland.
That hurts my brain to hear! Gah, I wish I had known. I would have bought one :(

Maybe I am being silly, but I figured caly would be just about out of CUCVs to sell! They were selling a ton of them 6 months ago too....

if you bid on a truck in norcal like french camp let me know i might be able to go check it out for you.
You know, this makes me even more willing to just wait till the next caly lot pops up, that is a fantastic offer. Just for the stress off my mind I had thought about PAYING someone to check one of them out for me before I bid.

I have changed my mind. Im going to wait another 3 weeks, and see if anything pops up closer to home. I will bid right before the end of September, which puts the pickup time in mid November.
