2009 vin info thread

[CARNAC]

a. 12514946 (I think there is supposed to be a "0" in front of the 125). The data plate stamping begins at 125.
b. Registration number is painted over, cannot read it.

Clinto thinks this should be a Kaiser-Jeep but GL said this was a General Products Division truck. He also thinks the 0125 serial # is '66 or '67 so that should be right. The data plate is for a Deuce with a winch and you can see where the PTO handle used to come through the floor for the PTO.

I would bet the usage miles is a fudge.

Keep in mind CAGE CODE/BINCS data base was developed in 1974 so at that time they would have went back in time to develop a CAGE number for Kaiser Jeep. In 1974 it got registered as simply Jeep and only later did they develop a CAGE for Kaiser Jeep. It seems this is the same for all trucks pre 74 and a lot post 74. Most likely as they built the database they did active production first (actually companies request their own in order to do business with the govt) and then worried about previous producers no longer around.

The info is as of Sep 05 but that's not to say it was in service then. The recorded was updated then as a reconciliation but no idea why.

I don't have a unit but do have a UIC WAKSB0. That puts it in a B Company of the unit but no idea the unit. Interestingly enough a fellow member on here, MIGZ, also has a M715 that was owned by this same unit.

Your M715 was shipped to another unit with the id code of WAJZAA but again no info on that unit name either and no idea when it was transferred to them.

Best advice I can do it contact the Army Heraldry folks at Carlisle Barracks, PA and they should be able to tell you the unit and maybe even find vehicle photos (long shot).
