Here is the data GSA provided in case there are any other helpful clues in it:

YEAR: 1967, MAKE: KAISER , MODEL: M45A2
VIN: 040-50970-0534-10052 MILEAGE: 20758
1967 KAISER CAB & CHASSIS, 2 1/2 TON, 6X6,
MDL:M45A2, 06 CYL, DIESEL, STD,
VIN:40-50970-0534-10052, EST MI:20758,

Thanks!

This one appears to have some issues. Will need to verify it is an M45A2.

First separating the reg# from the serial (VIN) number I have a reg# of 04050970. A search on this is a blank however there is a 04H59#70 series from 0 to 9 where the # sign is.

Looking at the SN 05341005# is the start of a series for a set of M109A3 shop vans. The # ranges from 0 to 9 but you specific number '2' is missing from the series.

It leads me to wonder if your truck may have started life as a 109 shop van and got bastardized before or after leaving service.

Verifying the frame number would be a start.

** UPDATE **

I got this truck home yesterday and I see that GSA typo'd the numbers.

The actual ID # listed on the data plate is: "04G-50970-0534-10052"

For the 3rd character they had a zero instead of a G. In their defense I can see how they made the mistake with the way it is stamped. I have not been able to verify the frame number but these exact same numbers are stenciled on the passenger door.

So here is the revised data:

This is for a 1967 Kaiser M45A2 W/W

a. Serial Number (VIN number): 053410052
b. Registration Number: 04G50970
c. NSN without dashes: ?
d. Where you bought it: Through GSA @ Oklahoma Forestry Services
e. Bumper numbers: None visible

Thanks!

This is what the registration number gets. The SN would have been for the purification system.

Need to verify those numbers. The NSN isn't correct and the serial number/vin is coming up with no data found. It should be in the system.

PA Guard property folks erased the history on the truck when it was sent to DRMO. They're pretty bad about that.

When you get a chance, please run the numbers so that perhaps I can learn the history of my truck. It was represented as an AM General on GL, it is stenciled CARC 08/96 and the motor tag has a build date of 02/90. Can you see if this was a rebuild during the 90's as well? It's in great shape and I'm very proud to have it.

Thanks,

Joseph

Info April 1996 when it was being transferred to HQ 1st Bn 145th Infantry and then to D Company of the same unit.
If you got VIN info, I'm currently asking for any donations made to be sent to the GENE VANCE FOUNDATION FOR WOUNDED WARRIORS. Here;'s the link:

Carnac,
I appreciate your info. Thank You!!! I do have a quick question. All 3 axle id tags on my truck are stamped 6/72. Is it possible that my truck is a 72 model. The only reason I ask is that I'm paranoid of insurance companies looking for any possible reason to get out of paying a claim.
