most any mod can be made better .if it makes you mad that he didnt think it out fully maybe you should have helped him. noone wants a 14000lb truck crashing into them cuz he couldnt stop due to loose of power brakes . i wasnt jumping on him i simply pointed out there are two air line hookups on the truck already . and if he was gonna go off the air tank he should go off the top of it so he doesnt get air in his line ..he could have put a t in the line coming out the top of the tank it would have been just as cheap and easy but it would have worked better . i wouldnt say i'm sure hes smart enough if he knew about the water collecting in the tank he probably would have done it differently himself and we wouldnt be having this conversation

not really "END OF STORY", because GJ did a ez mod that works for him does not mean its safe, if there is a queston of safety, then id rather not take the chance. would you went your family in the line of fire of a deuce with no air, if not why put somebody ealse in that spot

how is that not safe? you men like a valve that sticks open or something? Even it that brakes the F off and that is a huge gaping hole and looses all the air and he don't not see it.. you still can stop a deuce. its not like he went to a rally with a knocking engine in a deuce and knew about it and still hit the highway where it had that chance to blow and lock up the tires till you can react and push in the clutch, leak oil or cause some sort of major problem. Just saying.... if we want to get all in to it tonight.

At what point does a deuce with no air = unsafe...The air is a brake booster...the truck has hydraulic brakes even without air... also have a fully functioning hand brake. I can see the point of the 3 ounce nipple breaking off and breaking out the headlight of the car behind me. Most of these truck have 10 two piece rims on them; are you safety everything guys running around making sure you get those changed out? they actually kill people.

you can still stop a deuce without power brakes i agree with westy.but if it happens under the right conditions it can cause an accident. like say someone cuts him off right as it breaks .it probably wont be a good thing . and as many of us know things have a way of going wrong at just the right time. so it can make it less safe .he could make a brace for it so vibration wouldnt be an issue. we are trying to help the guy out not jump on him

locking ring rims are very safe . you are thinking of split rims they are a totally different story the same rims the deuce has are still in use today. and i 10 oz piece of steel can kill someone on a motorcycle but i guess thier life isnt worth anything to you

tm america. Don't confuse my remarks to GreenJeepster as making myself allied to you in any way. If you think so, then you may want to reconsider. You want to know why? Your endless ranting is getting real old, and you write like an illiterate sixth grader with a bad Napoleonic syndrome. I, "for the life of me" just can't get on your side. I also have a feeling that I am not the only one who feels this way.

I just got 25' of Goodyear hose and use the under-dash connector. It reaches all areas of the truck with a couple of feet to spare. Don't all deuces have the connection under the dash? Good point about it breaking off and getting your tires or worse, though I'v seen this done before, however the pipe was used as a drain extension and had a u clamp attatching it to the pioneer tool rack so if it did break, it would just hang there.

green jeep have you ever tried to stop a deuce with the hand brake ?it will only stop the truck at very low speeds..i hate going here but some people really just dont get it . they will argue and argue and argue no matter what . i feel like i'm at work with a rookie wanna be mechanic fresh out of tech school thinkin he knows everything and wont listen to anyone .in the end they only short themselves as they will never learn anything new .

I am a trauma nurse... If I hurry I can probably beat him to the ER and get paid to make him better:p **** that is win/win

Before I became a nurse I was a truck driver..... How many 40 ton loads have you hauled down the road? I drove for 5 years and hauled approximately 504,000 tons per year over 70 k miles... I bet i can stop a 6 ton truck just fine....thanks.

Oh and FYI... You may want to start staying at home....there are millions of dump trucks on the road that have a nipple in the air tank just like I have done....

yes you can stop a deuce but what is the difference in stopping distance between a deuce with air and without air. this stopping distance difference is the unsafe part of this. we are not talking about a normal roll to a stop stop but a have to stop NOW. if your willing to go with this kind of risk fine, in not

greenjeepster, most of the people posting are trying to be helpful. I can't even count the number of projects I've had to re-do because I overlooked something, or figured out a better way to do it, or someone else point out a problem that I hadn't considered. It's just the nature of 'improving' things.

That galvanized pipe IS going to break, whether it's due to fatigue and vibration, or getting pulled (by the air hose?), bumped, etc. You could make a bracket that would support the air-chuck and would take a lot of stress off that pipe.

But then, it's still mounted to the bottom of the air tank and I can't think of any reason why you'd want to take air from there. Why not just tap into the air-connect under the dash? Or make a gladhand quick-chuck adapter (so you can use any regular hose)? Or at least Tee into the top of one of those tanks so that you're pulling dry(er) air?

Spend a few more minutes on this project and make it mo' betta.

for everyone that thinks this is lets take a side grow up. please if you can' see the problems with this mod you probably shouldnt be doing mods. not everyone is made to be a mechanic . just last week we had a guy that thought he would save some money and pull his own trans:roll:. he took the crossmember out the the converter bolts out then the bellhousing bolts . he then made a quick trip to the er. as the trans landed right on his head. when they towed the car in the trans was hanging forn the drivshaft cooling lines and speedo cable .i wish i could have been there with my sixth grade typing skills to say thats not how you do it before he got hurt..i dont care what you think about me when i'm helping you out .this is all part of it as no good deed goes unpunished
