I hope someone has a fix for what I got myself into. I had a bit of vibration thru out the truck at idle. I looked at the eng mounts and found one pretty chewed up and falling apart The other looked good however after lifting it up that one is not in the best shape either. So off to the auto parts store. Got them back and found them to be one hole dia too long. Does anyone know of this being a problem and any lead one the correct part would be appreciated. Thx :(

I hope you are correct. That would make this alot easier than I thought! You said only two different types. do you know the yr to yr that this would apply(1980-1990 ect)Thx for your reply:)

I’m sure I am being redundant to a majority of yall here but there are 3 components to an engine mount.

The frame bracket / mount, IE the parts that is bolted to the frame with 6 7/16 bolts.

The steel / rubber sandwich part that the bolts to the frame bracket with 3 3/8 bolts.

The motor mount that bolts to the side of the block with 3 3/8 bolts.

The first pic shows a frame bracket with a steel / rubber sandwich mounted to it, along with an engine mount to its right.
ETA: I neglected to state that this was not corect for a 4x4 chevy. I wasnt able to locate one in the time I took to dig up the pics.

The 2nd pic shows a steel / rubber sandwich part.

The 3rd part shows the metal engine mount that the steel / rubber sandwich mates to with a long 4-5 inch 7/16 bolt.

From my experience the only part thats different is the frame bracket, IE the two other parts are the same from 350, 454 and 6.2L Diesel.

I've changed out my Frame brackets from the diesel ones to 454 brackets as I put a 454 engine in one of my M1028 CUCV's.

The small block , 6.2 and 454 parts all look similar - will bolt up - may have minor interference - fuel pump may hit crossmember - fan blade may hit shroud -headers/exhaust manifolds may hit frame - etc but each engine uses a different gm part number for all of the parts shown above.

THE FRAME BRACKET BUNKERBUILDER SHOWS IS FROM A 2 WHEEL DRIVE TRUCK ? NEVER SEEN ONE LIKE THAT IN A 4X4

When you go get parts for your CUCV, tell the counter monkey that it's a 1984 Chevy K30 with a 6.2 and TH400. No matter what year your CUCV is, or if it's a Blazer (except for axle parts) that is what your truck is. GM did not apply the year to year updates to the CUCV series to maintain commonality of parts for the duration of the contract. The only exception to this that I have found is that the front spindle nuts on the 1009 changed in 85 from the 6 pointed key locked style to the 4 pin style that the D44 uses.

Later,
Joe

My Civy and M1008 frame brackets were a little different.

IE the M1008 model that I removed had some extra gusseting that the civy 454 frame bracket did not have.

There was a slight difference in what the engine height was after the swap.

About 1 inch or so higher with the 454 frame bracket.

my civy big block 84 one ton 4x4 and my 3 cucvs motor mounts all look the same

Thx again for all the replies. I went to another parts store after he told me their mount measured 6 1/4 " just like mine. I was very disappointed however when I opened it up and found he was not very good at measuring. He missed by approx 1/2 ", the same as the other places. The 20 min drive was not all in vain however. He looked further and found that a eng mount for a 1 ton chevy van was the same size as mine except the steel around was about a third lighter gauge. Also, made in china was stamped on his part. I'm going back to the original parts store to find out if their made in USA part for the 1 ton van is made of heavier material. If not maybe a 1 1/2 or 2 ton chevy might be correct the size.

if you use the correct 454 buckets - or brackets that bolt to the block of engine it will lower it down 1 inch. With the 350 or small block buckets your 454 will sit 1 inch higher. I can post the gm part numbers - you can still buy these at your gm dealer - for the mounts and buckets if anybody needs them. The frame brackets are no longer available.

Well...., after alot of miles on the car and 5 different parts stores, aua I have come up nearly empty handed. One mount that fits is the 1 ton diesel van. This mount however uses lighter metal around the rubber shock material. the hole pattern matches up. Just concerned about lighter mount. Any more ideas? Otherwise they are going in today and I'll keep my eye out for the heavier ones. I really do not like to redo things. Don't have much choice. Thx

If you do part cross search by 1984 GM Pickup they have the mounts you need at gmpartsdirect.com

Mount, all - 6.2l, diesel - 6.2L, DIESEL 84-87 $40.00 $40.00

At lmctruck.com LMC Truck Parts - Page 125

The 6.2 has only one set of mounts. I spoke to a buddy today who worked on all sorts of CUCV's and said all the mounts are identical. GM and LMC have the parts you need. he mentioned something that the mounts for the 350 worked best for some reason.

and again... this has been discussed in detail in other threads....
