I just got back from picking up a M1061a1 from hooks, tx. But, its not the one I won. Someone screwed up which pictures went with what trailer and I bid and won the trailer in pic 1 Event 5068 lot 7875 for a winning bid of $890. Well, after driving the 700+ miles to get it, I find trailer in pic 2 lot 7874 with lot #'s scratched out and re-written, pic 3. Well I wasn't going to leave empty handed and this one was in ok shape so I hooked to it and came home. Well, after having to strap the front axle up, but I'll come back to that. When I got home I looked back to see that it sold for, $866, so it's in the same ballpark but i do think that the one I thought I was bidding on, was nicer.

Anyway back to the front axle. The right front brake was dragging bad, bad enough to actually slow and stop my truck and the left front brake was lightly dragging also. well i found a shop just down the road to help, they were to busy to do it for me but not to busy to let me use their tools and stand around and watch me do it, go figure. so i jacked the axle up to the bump stops and double strapped each side and prayed it would make the trip.

Gotta love GL! Sounds like other than the front axle issue, you made it home w/o problems. Those are nice trailers!

I think that would be a very handy trailer to have...looks like it might be a little heavy:p. Do each of the jacks operate individually so you can level the trailer? What are your plans for it?

Oh, on a good note, while i was going over the trailer, hooking lights up, checking tire pressure, ect. A fellow steelsoldiers member showed up and needed a hand getting a M105 off base so i dropped mine in the parking lot and went back for his. Here is a pic of his and other pics from the trip.

If all four tires were on the ground the tongue weight on lunette is only 340lbs. The empty weight is 5850lbs. yes all the jacks are independant. Haul my tractor behind my deuce, i know its way overkill but it'll :grd:

Ours is like the one you have in pic 1. Ours was from Ft Jackson, and had the tool boxes and fuel pod brackets. It sounds to me like someone wanted the fuel pod brackets on the trailer you won, so they did a swap. We paid about what you did, so I think you did alright. GL broke the brake diaphrams off of the master cylinders on ours (forklifts strike again ), so I will have to source some parts. Our brake shoes were stuck too, they just needed some gentle persuation with a big hammer. All in all though, great trailers that have no equivalent in the civilian world given the cost.

I would hope they wouldn't do something like that, swapping stuff around just cause someone wanted something they didn't win would be total BS. The only thing that makes me think that it was just a mixup of pictures is the S/N on the description of the auction matches the data plate on the trailer i brought home. The rear diaphram is broke off of this one, along with a band that goes around the spring pack. Have you found a source for the parts?

The manufacturer, Utility Tool & Trailer said that those parts are on order and won't be in for a few months. I will let you know when I found something. I agree, it sounds like a mixup on GLs part. It wouldn't be the first time.

the backhoe has been nice, only wish the frontend loader had a higher lift capacity, it struggled to lift a deuce front axle with springs attached.

Check the parking brake cables close to the handles. When the trailers get moved around with fork trucks the cables get smashed between the frame and forks causing the brakes to stick on.

I almost had to cut the parking brake cable on one side of mine until I played around with some PB Blaster and a small hammer. It finally released after about 15 minutes and a can of lube.

I think it was you that I advised to just chain up the front axle anyway since the walking beam loads and unloads the weight causing the empty trailer to wag around. My second M1061 with my Bobcat 853 onboard is very stable, just it's too darn high most of the time.

Don't let the data weighs for lunette fool you, there is a whole lot more that 340 lbs of tongue weight on that trailer.

I've had one of those trailers for awhile. I was able to repair the master cylinder broke off by GL and had the air chamber welded back on. The smashed parking brake cables is correct.

My wiring harness had two points of tear from the GL forklift also. I did a repair splice on both of these spots. The connector for the lights to the truck truck is standard military. You don't need one specifically for a 1061 trailer. Any trailer will work. Download the -14 manual and it will show you how to do it.

I had to load tires on mine by hand and found that I can jack the front end up enough to make the rear darn near touch ground. Proper positioning next to a slight incline made it even easier to load.

I have the posts on each end (laundry and bath version) so I can put a tarp on mine. Still looking for a exta front post that I can use in the center of the trailer...why? I want to mount a 3000 pound chain hoist and I beam so I can load and unload heavy objects such as 6.2 l CUCV engines, transmissions, and stuff like that. Turn it into a mobile maintenance trailer with tools and small generator and tent on board.
