I wanted it too, bid into the 17's, but I knew better than to think I would get it. Try finding a commercial 6x6 winch truck with 30,000 miles for $30k, not going to happen even for a '94 model. Congrats 8519.

The crazy thing is how is it DoD is getting rid of this Freightliner while they are rebuilding the ancient AM Generals? Very backwards.

Why doesnt the Gov. just lease trucks? Turning in "new" stuff is beyond me ,1st the FMTV now this..

But man id kill to have one-

The the Freightliner/Oshkosh trucks some are glider kits from old A1's and A2's.

The factory that is spitting out new 916's is only about 2 miles from my house. They have a yard with a few hundred trucks just chilling there. See them all the time on step decks heading north, I assume they are heading to FT. Lewis. One of my cousins works there, and I think they sell for about 230k each.

I knew this truck would go high, where in the world will you find an all wheel drive Detroit powered road tractor? Pretty tough combo to beat.

when i was a flatbed hauler i carried the frames to those trucks in Portland. Thats pretty cool.

I saw it up until about 18,500 and then i stopped watching. cool truck though but made for working not hobby drivers. good on them too they have a good piece of machinery

Alright, who got it?

That is one serious road tractor. Fiberglass hood and aluminum cab. Won't have to worry about the cab rusting out from you.

Just need a kick a s s trailer to go with it.

and a tank to tow around.

It went cheap.

Newb question...why do the tires seem so small compared tot he wheel wells. Is that the right look? Such a tough truck looks like it needs better meats, even for a OTR truck.

Yep, if it were mine, I would be putting on some bigger/more aggressive tires! I wonder how it would look with 395/85R20 super singles on it?

Excerpt: "bomb squads were called to a remote location on the base after a search of the vehicle the man had been driving uncovered "several possible grenades" and other "militarylike" items"

Were all guilty of possessing the later part. :deadhorse:

Was that an EUC item or available right away. Sure looks like a wonderful truck. I'd be tickled pink to just drive it around the block.

We have recently aquired one of these and jus drove it back the other day. It is a work of art jus cant hardly believe how tall this truck is i mean i was looking down at other semis that drove by, planning on stretching the frame and removing the winch and putting a tank on it

You got an M916A1 (as in a Freightliner) or you got an AM General M920 or M916? If you got a Freightliner, do you mind if I ask where you found it? Thanks!
