We arrived on post at 0900. It was My uncle (who works at Fort Polk), his son Ben, my friend Jeremy and myself. I got Jeremy to start installing the guage set while Ben started to remove the batteries. The batteries were new in 07 and I think they will take a charge! First thing I did was open the air box. The filter is NEW! I mean not an hour on it! I then pulled the dipstick to find beautiful oil the color of honey, just changed! On to the brakes.. reservoir full, bled a little out of each wheel and no air and the fluid was new. New radiator (from 07) with pretty green coolant. Nice belts. We installed two new 850 CCA batteries and it was time to see if she ran. I cranked it over with the fuel shut off for a few secs to make sure there was no fluid in the cylinders. Fuel on and ..... vroom! She fired up like she was run yeaterday!!! Sounded great, charging, air building press., oil pressure good. All systems go, time to air up the tires and drive. Pushed in the clutch and put the transfer case in high. The stick was in "neutral" position so I went to let out the clutch and the truck lurched forward! What?? I stirred the stick around and found a gear. Clutch out... truck bogs. Not good, I think, I got a bad tranny. It would go in second though so I made a block slowly. Finally, we pulled the top off the tranny to see what was up. Turns out, whomever worked on her last jammed the rear shift fork forward beyond the detents sticking the box in first gear. Any other gear than second was also in first, thus the bogging. Put her back together and away we went! Drove just over 50 MPH and the trip home was fun and un-eventful. The only thing I don't have is lights... none. I think the problem is the switch (it's marked 'good" in 09). Thank y'all for you help so far and thanks to the guys that rode there with me!
