FDC NOT bypassed.

Open both petcocks on the heater hoses(at the engine end of the hoses). If just one is open, you won't have coolant flowing through the heater core. Your video only shows the heater end of the hoses. The valve you showed is for letting the air out of the heater core.

How warm is the output of the heater supposed to get. Its around 25*f hear today and mine hardly got luke warm. It wouldn't even knock the chill off in the truck.

well i just got in from driving it about 35 minutes and after i shut her down the radiator was only warm to the touch, i opened the cap and the coolant was only warm to the touch too... idk if the truck just runs cool, or the thermostat is bad or i need to get one of those winter front covers.... i have noticed coolant on my frame rail that has been coming from the overflow, that may have something to do with it :lost:

I'm questioning how well the heater can possibly work in low temps when the heater is drawing in 100% outdoor air instead of cab air.

did you check and see how hot your radiator was? i have been looking at the artic front covers you can get them off of ebay for about $60. i read on another thread that they were well worth it but i don't know... but you are right how hot could the air get i guess one could run a duct into the cab

Deuces are cold natured. A grill cover is almost a necessity to get it to operating temps when the ambient temps drop to 40 or so. Cranetruck runs one year round for the most part and has done plenty of testing on it. Try some cardboard and zipties. I also caution you that some of these heaters are just plumbed in wrong. Post pics of where the hoses come out of the engine so that the heater bearing contingent can observe and report.

Looks like the crook that sold you the truck would have told you about the radiator cap! LOL :D

I think you can get one at NAPA.
lol he did i just forgot about it... i replaced the cap today, but i am pretty sure i am going to have to get a arctic front for it... it heat gets about luke warm

I've actually been considering ducting the inlet of the fan on the heater back into the cab. I hadn't thought about the artic cover, but I may have to due that to. My radiator never heats up.

I have a winterfront for my truck and use it when the temps are below 40. I have used it above that temperature but hard climbs cause the temps to rise beyond what I am comfortable with.
I know my deuce heater throws heat without it and if yours does not get warm after running it for a while then I would check your thermostat. I know mine will warm up enough to clear the windshield idling. It takes a while.
As was suggested make sure you have the air out of the heater core with the petcocks on the heater core and also make sure the petcocks are open that feed the heater.

Just a reminder for everyone that the water heater on a deuce isn't rated for too low of temps, just not enough hot air to keep up with all the air leaking into an uninsulated cab. I think anything below 20 degrees or so (don't remember what TM says at the moment) they recommend the arctic fuel fired heater.

Last year in December I took my deuce on a rescue mission into the Adirondacks. It was -7 when I started the truck that morning. I had the winterfront on and it warmed up pretty quickly and I took off with the heater blowing some warm air. I will admit that a hard top would have been warmer because of the better seal but I was plenty warm and actually pulled my heavy coat off as I was too warm with it on in the cab. I was not in shirt sleeves underneath though. I had a sweatshirt jacket on underneath and a couple more layers beyond that. With the winter front it kept blowing heat at idle. If you are going to use your deuce in the colder months I would strongly recommend a winterfront to keep things warm and the operator warmer.
