Double post - must be a glitch with too many things hooked up.
With some background in electrical winch's I would have 2 batteries on hand(12V in your setup) (all in all you will end up with 4 on the truck) for a lot of winch time which is what you are doing.

I think one battery will get it done. DIRTBAG is twice a year. That involves loading and unloading four times. We probably ride once or twice more per year, but don't use the deuce for this.

Right now I use a Warn 2000 lb ATV winch mounted on the front of my Yamaha Bruin 4 x 4. I ride up the 11 foot ramps, turn the quad around and use the Warn winch to pull the other two ATVs up the ramps backwards.

The ATV battery is very small and handles pulling two quads up without issue. I leave the ATV OFF because I don't like exhaust gasses in my lungs.

The NEW plan is to use a cheaper, lower quality 3000 lb winch to pull all three ATVs up the 11 foot ramp. (not at once of course) If needed I could have the deuce running, but I don't thing that will be required. The third (12 volt only) battery installed in the deuce is much bigger and I assume better than the on sale walmart battery in the ATV, which I already said handles pulling two quads up ok.

That is ALL this winch will do. Pull ATVs backwards up an 11 foot ramp a few times per year.

I will probably install a few 12 volt lights, a back up camera system and a power invertor on the 12 volt side, but none of that will be running while I'm pulling ATVs up the ramps. Unless one of the Will Wagners is trying to microwave burritos while I'm loading.

The winch I purchased for the job is actually designed to be used on an ATV, it is just a lower quality winch than what I have install on my Bruin.

If I do get so much crap running on the 12 volt side that I need a 2nd battery (like my 2008 Duramax crew cab has), I would be surprised.

If the cheap winch does not perform well, you could mount a second winch parallel to the first one, wired in series and connected to a train horn.

You don't even need a third alt, you could use regenerative charging while unloading, that would generate the same amount of energy as it takes to load. The math says so, anyways. 11' in one direction takes the same power to go in the other direction. (equally and opposite galvanically isolated reaction, ancillary, nano, ohms).

btw, as a youth, I was occasionally in trouble. I was once convicted of breaking Ohm's law. I resisted arrest. The judge did not have the capacity to make the charge stick. My lawyer rectified everything. I walked...

Rat, we're only about 75 posts away from hitting 200!

i like my duce the way it came from GL, all 1100.00 of it.

i also like my bone stock standard 24v alt,

the NDT tires are fine

the Drum Breaks are fine

the stock filters are fine

the single circuit brake system scares me, but it works.

my air assist steering is nice, but not really needed, i'm strong enough.

Going 55mph is no issue, wouldn't want to make 10.5k of steel to go any faster.

and if SHTF i would much rather be running a multifuel then about anything else.

I like the word deuce spelled the way it's supposed to be - d e u c e and proud.

Your deuce has plenty of mods on it. Unless it's a virgin M35. The only difference is some depot, motor pool or Army mech did them for you.

After reading that composition, I think I need a CHEAP WENCH (with serious issues) rather than a cheap winch and all the other confusion that you just dished out.

I still like it - D E U C E

My NDT tire were fine, but I went with taller tires to lower the RPM at 50-55

My drum brakes work great. I try not to be going fast when I use them.

I had a problem with my original primary fuel filter coming loose so I switched everything to spin ons.

Single circuit worries me so I added a remote reservoir in cab to make sure she stays full.

Air assist is for wimps. M35s never came with them originally.

I can go 65, but I like 50 a lot better. So does my D E U C E.

The Chit won't hit the fan as long as folks like we have here are still serving. Multifuels kick ass though and I love mine.

Sheet, if you'd gotten a MEP003 like myself, you could light up all of dirtbag, an we wouldn't be pushing 125 posts talking magic smoke, Harry Potter, an yer alternator set up. Got 'lectricity?
LOL. Actually, I have a 10kw PE-95 that dates back to 1944. It does a fine job, and it has a proper flat head Jeep engine. :)

Currently I'm maintaining a positive outlook. I do not have a chip on my shoulder any more. I think I transformed my life just in time. I still have my family Joules. You never know watt life will throw at you.

When did this turn into a pissing match? And why?
I think it turned into an advanced electrics discussion involving trains and Harry Potter about the time that DH's street cred was challenged and Rat4Spd realized the post count could top 100+.

As the OP I am simply here to inform everyone who cares that TM America's kit kicks ass and will work exactly how I want it to for a price that I am happy with. It was installed by a 14 year old Soldier B. Not too tricky.

The fact that serveral alternators hooked to one battery could, might, should, may or may not work does not concern me. It does amuse me that a former sailor who used to monitor the chemistry of a nuke power plant underwater before going back to school for some advanced degree that bores me to tears and joining the Army NG (Navy kicked Army's ass BTW) to do more advanced boring chit got Harry Potter to drive a train.

Seriously though, the thread offical Jumped The Shark when Military Steel trolled on in.

Oh yeah, speaking of trains, my father was a conductor. My mother could not resist him. The minute they set eyes on each other, sparks flew.

Don't sell us short just yet. I think we have more potential. DH, man, I'm there for you if you need to talk. Just don't say anything too revolting.

Your story is wire all here. But please stop now, because it Hertz.

Does your deuce clear the Wheatstone bridge? My Jeep does, which gives me an un farad advantage.

Please relay these thoughts to the Admins, who might pull the plug on this thread before we hit 200.

I agree, there is not much more to be gained by this thread. Loads more could be discharged in this thread but I fear the frequency of my posting could detract from Dug's solid-state facts in this thread.

so to recap, Do not pull 12v from one battery, may cause undesired results, due to a un balanced series situation, question, if you had 2 12v fans, could you wire them in series , top operate with 24v system?

well, yes and no. They will spin. but they will not ever spin at equall speeds. Load, temp and other issues will cause one to slow down and the other to speed up. If accurate and equall speed is not needed, it would probably work fine.

motors are a fickle beast in series.
