How do you test a Hemtt shock absorber

So I ended up with about 30 or 40 new looking shock absorbers marked for the MK48 and trailers. It was NSN 2510011324983

I don't know a good new shock from a bad old one. I guess the old one would be dirty and that might be a clue.

Anyway, I pull on the shock when compressed, and I get some suction like pulling a pole out of some mud.
I push it back in and there is some really good resistance.

Are these shocks suppossed to stay up? I would think if it went to a MK47 trailer, it would be up and stay up until compressed by a bump in the road or something, then pop back up.

I'm clueless, but would like to get them in the right hands reasonable if they were good. Wouldn't want to pay shipping or give anyone any grief if bad.

Anyone out here know how to properly bench test a new shock?

Bad shocks usually leak. Besides that, I think that if the shocks were bad they would have been scrapped, and they wouldn't look like those.

Shocks can only be tested on a special test bench. And without the specs you can not say whether they are good or bad. However, these look like unused, so they should be ok.

This is what I'm seeing, so they are not at all expensive to taxpayers...
I just hate to offer something that may or may not be good.
No leaks on any of them. A few have a rub on one of the inner sockets.
Most have no rubs or nicks at all are are new looking, but the turn in data said "H7" which is condemned. Don't know what to believe and don't know how to test, but it seems a shame to throw them away. I wonder if they can be recycled??? with fluid in them.

$52.20 each in a large quantity doesn't appear to be ripping us off at all. I just find it hard to believe that if they were used, they'd put them back into bags.

Stalwart, sorry, not ignoring you. I don't think this NSN matches with the M977.
The data says MK47 and trailers, and I wouldn't even believe the trailers without the manual in my lap with parts breakdown. You should check the NSN to see if it can be used for your vehicles. If so, I can be very reasonable. That wouldn't be a problem at all.
You could just make an offer but please check the NSN before anyone is out of pocket on any shipping or anything.

That NSN number is in my M977 parts manual. It makes some sense as they all used the same Hendrickson spring walking beam suspension.

My vehicle takes 8, BUT . . . if I change them out and one or two go bad I'm out looking for them again. So I'd consider either one or two sets, depends on price. Shipping is shipping, it doesn't enter the equation. Packing costs, matter a little bit. BTW, I'm not looking to pick a whole bunch up and sell some, I'm only thinking for my own future use. I plan on keeping this truck until I can no longer drive it.

If you got a deal on 'em, and I get a good price we all win. I have been approched on here to buy stuff at a demanded (steep) price or they go to scrap. I tell 'em to scrap them.
