Picked up a cheap (for good reason) MKT out of Ft Sam in Dec. The EUC cleared yesterday so I wanted to pick it up in time to play with it a little this weekend.

Both tires were flat and the lug nuts were pretty much frozen in place. I had tried to change the tires the day Westy and Gimpy picked up their 2 deuces but couldn't budge them. I sprayed some Kroil on them hoping to maybe free them up but going back today they were about the same. With a 6' cheater bar and a BFH I was able to get the shredded tire off and luckily the other took/held air.

Got home safe and sound and started unpacking. First thing I find out is the leveling jack handle is missing. Anyone have a field expedient fix for that?

The next thing I notice is that this thing is a MESS. Meaning they didn't clean shinola when they turned it in. I know it's been 2 and half decades ago but when we turned in our M151s they had to be complete and CLEAN.

So is it mostly complete?

I knew the travel cover was toast (paging Mr. Obvious) but was hoping the roof canopy was in decent shape. Turns out it isn't. Several grommets are torn out at the corners. I'm not sure they're in good enough shape to repair or not. I'll try a boat upholstery shop and see if maybe they can fix it. A couple of the poles are also damaged but there was enough left of everything to get it set up.

"Mostly" I guess. I haven't gotten in to all the nooks and crannys yet.

There were 3 cutlery rolls but only 1 was complete and 1 was almost empty.

No MBUs although I've got 8 so I'm okay there. No MBU cords either but I've got them as well. What I was hoping for and didn't really expect to find was the AC invertor.

There was a New in Box Coleman lantern though.

I got this one for $750. I figured since it was here vs having to ship or transport one I could let some of the issues with it slide.

A whole HERD of mermites, SWEET!
Only opened 1 of them and it was missing an insert. I'm kind of hesitant after seeing the pot full of crap. There's enough grease on the griddle to repack the bearings. I'm sure it saved it from rusting but it's nasty.

I towed it with my F250 with no problem. It is raining so I went mighty slow (<50) all the way home but no issues at all. I think the wet loaded weight is around 5500 so your 1 ton should be fine.

One question I have for the guys using M103 or M105s - I couldn't get the landing gear up. It was in place when I looked at it the 1st time (lunette was on the ground) but I dropped it in to the lowered position to try and change the tires. Now it's hitting at the top of the landing gear so won't lock in to place. Any suggestions?

Weigh them and I will give you $5 each for the heavy ones and takes me chances!

Has the Mrs. seen it yet?
Only pictures. That's why I wanted it set up before she got home. It looks a little better "unwrapped." I would have liked some better weather to get it cleaned up a bit first. I'll probably strip everything out on Monday and pressure wash it with some Dawn. I want to get the MBUs in and fire them up too.

Welcome to the MKT world. Mine has all four handles for the legs and I can ship one to you so that you have at least one. I also have about fifteen of the mermite inserts and can send you some of those as well if you want them.
