How about just heating water in a pot on one of the burner units? I've got a couple extra MBUs thtrev that I'd be happy to trade for one of your AC invertors.

Thanks for the offer mkoen but we are trying to keep it all propane because of who will be using them (12 y/o scouts). We are using a commercial stainless 3 sink setup. SCSG-G4, I'll track down that thread about the 109s, Any thoughts on the Traveling canvas and inner canvas?

Sportsmans guide has a propane setup that will set you back about 100$ that will solve your hot water issues provided you have a propane tank a pump and a water source. By the way MKT's rock! Absolutely the best food I ever had camping was out of an MKT.

ditto on the propane tankless water heater. runs from around 100-150 dollars and can heat anything from hot coffee temp to luke warm shower with a turn of a dial. run time is about 28 hours on a propane grill cylinder on most i saw

We did that at the 2009 GA Rally and I can tell you that it sucks. You cannot fill the pot up past 3/4 or it will slop when you put it in or take it out of the oven.
It is also dicey carrying the hot water down the stairs to where the washing is being done.
At the 2010 rally Mike had the sinks with burners and it was great....no schleping water around.

Hey Mitch, Yeah, I bought the one out of eastover. Been looking for one to make the support trailer out of for quite awhile. I should have it for the Uwharrie rally in Apr, and definitly for haspin, and for certain GA.

Big Ladle and a spare bucket. Either that or just heat a couple of the deep pans on the gridle and wash them there.
Some of us don't have all the bells and whistles like Mike so we need to be more "field expediant."
I have some field hot water heaters but a) don't think they'll get hot enough to sterilize anything and b) I don't have the line that goes between the diesel can and heater to fuel them up to try it out.

If anyone has any MBU cables and the control box that they can part with I would really like to get a set up. I have a Kitchen tent on my homestead and am setting up as much of an MKT in it as I can. I have an extra kitchen tent too, but without poles if anyone needs it. I am watching for MKTs but closer to home than the ones that have been selling lately. I know it's a better unit than the tent, but I have the tent. JT

mkoen, what does the that line look like, I may have one. I think I'll look into that tankless water heater, sounds like a better setup than heating water in a pot. Anyone know anything about the canvas, inside and out? Jatonka, I have the cables, but i'm not sure what control box your talking about...the inverter maybe?

Looks like we need at least seven full sets of MKT 'canvas' (four different carry covers, two identical roof canopies, six side walls, and six side screens). I don't have anywhere near that much (of everything), so will have to make a pilgrimage in the next couple of months. in the meantime, ferro has volunteered to come over and help me inventory what I do have, so we can spread it around for maximum benefit. We will try to send things via the SS Supply Line, since Parcel Post can get quite expensive. The tan stuff I got from Warner-Robins I have over $1000 in. Results from the pilgrimage should be much more reasonable if we don't have to use the Post Office for delivery!

Mike - I appreciate the help. With so many SS members getting MKTs you might need to set up a retail store somewhere. Or maybe a door-to-door service like Schwan's
thtrev - the fuel hose for the hot water heaters appear to be kind of unique. Someone told me they looked like a line in to a Bunson Burner from a labratory. They're not anything like the ones that go to the MBUs.

I could really use the 110AC to 24Volt DC converter with the cables for running my burners if anyone has a extra. I have been using the Nato hook up but it works the CUCV batteries over pretty good. I would much rather be able to run a extension cord. I am also in the market for two more burners if the person who purchased the big lot from Wi last week is watching.

I started pulling the serving ware out for cleaning this afternoon. I imagine I'm going to be busy with some steel wool cleaning up the cutlery.
I've found 3 bicycle air pumps so far. I'm going to guess they had something to do with the old style burners but not certain.
Lots of aged hot sauce bottles.

bicycle pumps were for the M2 (gasoline) burner, which is covered in the M59 Field Range TM.

SCSG-G4 Hello Mike, don't mean to hyjack, but we got rid of 2 new m2 burners and kept the MBU's because our friend who is/was a NG cook told us to go with the MBU's because they don't grenade like the M2's do.. Annie will be doing all the canning outdoors on a MBU.. Is this a good idea.. Thanks Joe

Let me know when Ferro is coming over and I will try to make a trip up North and help out as well. Seems that the inverters are a pain to find. I have the MBUs in mine but no inverter so running propane. Anyone happen to have four spare M2 burner units that they want to part with for a reasonable price? I use them as frames to mount propane burners. I am also working on a better method of using one of the ranges as a portable smoker. It works fairly well now but want it to work better.
