For the tachometer, search this forum for "Tiny Tach" (or google it). There's a company that makes an add-on tachometer that uses a sensor on an injector line to get a fairly accurate tachometer read out. I think they go for around $100 new. Seems pretty reasonable.

They work off the pulse of the fuel in the injection line. They are right on. However, because they are digital. You can't follow progress as the rpms climb or fall. Digital tachs annoy me, especially in airplanes because you are always having to hunt for the desired rpm from moving too much or too little. In the truck, that won't be a problem. Plus, they keep hours of run time. Really simplifies the "when do I change the oil" guess work.

Well, I found out what Rescue913's transmission problem was after I bought the M1009 from him indirectly (long story). Anyway, after taking off the air intake filter and housing, I found the original rubber hose that goes from the vacuum pump to the injector pump... it was the original hose, split in half, and disintegrating into powder. Shifts like a dream after replacing the vacuum modulator and vac. line!! Thanks for the tips everybody!! Saved me from pulling the tranny for a 3rd time![thumbzup]

I had the exact same thing on one of my M1009s. The modulator and everything was fine but the vacuum line was completely gone. Very nice improvement for a couple dollars worth of vacuum line!
