ORD parts

I'm planning on doing a 4" lift on my 1028 using mostly ORD parts. Thus far I have ordered the shackle flip kit, new shocks for the rear, and the 4" HD springs for the front. I still need to measure and order new front shocks, brake lines, and I am probably gonna order a set of ORD shackles while I'm at it. My question(s) is/are has anybody done something similar to this? I measured the bushings for my shackles the other day and they were coming at around 1.5" diam each (actually probably a bit smaller than that) Is this correct? Supposedly '73-87' 3/4 and 1-ton GM trucks use a 1.75" bushing at one end and 1.5" at the other. I also measured the banjo nuts for the brakes and they were 7/16" Again, supposedly, the '79-'98 GM trucks used a 10mm banjo nut. ???? While I'm on the topic, what's the general consensus on the crossover kit?

ORD is ok they should know what you need for brake stuff they deal with 14's and 60's all day long. I prefer wfoconcepts over ord. As for the cross over you don't need the bent drag link

I'm doing a 4" lift as well + Zero Rates. I ordered a complete kit from ORD . . . steering box, crossover steering, HD 4" front springs and rear shackle flip, extended brake lines and shocks. I'm planning on running stock H1's with either 35's for 37's.

@tvguy Cool. Let me know how it goes. I'm just ordering parts and pieces right now (and trying to work some gremlins on the truck out) About how long are your front shocks extended? Are you getting new shackles for the rear? If you're putting on H1's you might as well put on a set of HMMWV 37's. They outghta clear on 4" with no cutting or trimming, if you're down in GA you could probably get them from a DRMO yard or some other place on Ft Benning or Ft Stewart for a good price, the tread pattern is pretty aggressive, and we beat the s*** outta ours and the still wear like iron.

ORD has some killer products if you can spend the extra cash . . . just check out the offroad adventure with their lifted up green big body. I ordered the swaybar correction/disconect for mine. I just put on a 4" lift kit with h1 wheels and 36" tires, no problem clearing them and I cant wait to put on newer 37's. This is a picture I took after cleaning her up this weekend...

Awesome. I just got my shackle flip kit in today. Probably gonna be ordering up the brake lines, shackles and possibly the crossover kit pretty soon here. Ordered new front shocks last night. I'm slowing assembling parts and pieces. I've still got some other gremlins I need to work out (like why the truck keeps messing up belts on the rear driver side tire) before I put all the stuff on. Should be pretty good once I get it all figured out. If I ever make it down to Wilmington I'll be sure to look you up. If you're ever around Bragg/Fayette-nam look me up and we'll go wheeling.

P.S. Did you shim anything? Anything in particular I should look out for when installing all this?

Ordered a 2" lift from the two months ago. Flip kit is here, still waiting on the front springs and shocks. Was told they are on backorder. You might want to ask about availability before you order anything from them.

I was thinking of buying the swaybar disconnect to install along with my with my front zero-rate/2" add-a-leaf setup. How did the swaybar disc. work out for you?

@soule64 Yeah, still waiting on my front leaf springs. Also ordered the swaybar disconnects. Was told they were back ordered on bushings for 'em, so still waiting for those too :-|
The phrase of the day is "slowly assembling"

Don't know about the shocks . . . I just told ORD what I was doing and they sent a set. I'm planning on trying the H1's and 37's but no spacers. I'm swapping in a dually 60 in the front and a Dana 70HD w/single wheel hubs in the rear.

@tvguy Don't worry about it. Jacked the front of the truck yesterday up so the tires were spinning freely and measured the shocks. Came out to around 18 1/2" Started looking around for Skyjacker shocks for the front end of an '86 K30 with 4" of lift on Summit Racing. Found what I needed and order them up. The shocks I ordered up are 22.58" extended. (18.5"+4"=22.5")

OK think about this you measured your stock spring at full drop stock sway bar, stock shackles just to name a few is it full drop or is the shock bottomed out ? is it to short already? Now you are going with after market springs, aftermarket sway bar ends , aftermarket shackles to name a few the springs alone are 4 '' but how much more will they drop + add the shackles + add the sway bar ends how can you assume that a 4 '' longer shock is what you need? better to order as a kit or from a company that you can explain what parts you are or want to use and get the correct parts the first time. I own a 4x4 shop love guys that buy a bunch of parts that won't work together and wants it fixed just trying to save you some head aces aua and money!! don't just buy a bunch of parts that may not work together or limit other parts!
