Congratulations on your trailer and your first post. How do you plan to recover it? Are you going to tow it home or put it on a trailer? If your planning on towing it home think about all the things you might need. If your going to put it on a trailer then the hard part is done.

The reason I say that is the pictures show the item in the state it is when the GL employee took the photo. Things can change. I went to pick up a 1008 at Nellis on Tuesday and brought everything I could think of, extra batteries, fluids, tools, duct tape:cool: and jumper cables and an extra key. When I got there the right front tire was flat, in the auction pictures it was inflated. No spare on the truck and no jack...ouch.:-(

I did bring a small tire compressor from Harbor freight which got it most of the way and I could see that the bead was leaking. Luckily a member (n342lm) was picking up an M35A3 and I was able to fill the tire easily with the air system. It was a sweet almost new looking A3 by the way.. I enjoyed the ride back across the Mojave at 55 mph...not sure everyone else was happy to move around me.

So enjoy the trip to Barstow, say Hi to Tim and David and bring some sun screen and long sleeves and a hat because it gets blistering hot on the lot where your trailer is.

Make sure you have valid registration and insurance information because they do check it.

Welcome aboard. $400 is not an excessive price for an M101. Congrats and enjoy it, one darned useful trailer.

Welcome from the Missouri Ozarks ! Don't let some of the low ball minimum bid stories get to you ! For what your getting it's a heck of deal no matter how you slice it ! Does it have sides, bows or a tarp ? PICTURES !

I totally agree on the bidding fever issue for sure ! You've got to overcome the idea that your going to lose your item by $20.00, because real fast it turns into $200.00 ! Don't ask how I know ! LOL !

So enjoy, research the posts for recovery tips and most of all, ENJOY ! [thumbzup]

$400 isn't bad, my first M101A1 I paid $700 for on the street. I just won an A2 for $349 yesterday in barstow. The A3's went for almost $700.

thanks for the safety chain tip i did not know about that. also congrats to URBNFLX on your A2 when i bought mine i did not know the difference between the A1,A2 and A3 but i do now and not being a big fan of surge brakes(i once had a flaming tire and wheel from our race boat trailer pass me up on the south end of the grapevine even after pulling over several times to make sure to unlock the brakes.)i am glad i bought the A1 .Larry

$400 is NOT bad at all. I have bought cheaper, but was just lucky. Most go for $400-650 in this aread. I have seen some guys advertise them for as much as $1200, though I doubt they sell. I did see one one on ebay sell for $1100.
I think you made a really good buy. Does it have the cover by chance. If so, you made a great buy.

Congratulations, and welcome to SS. You did well for a first buy. Be happy!

Looks good... I can't wait till june 14th then I can make the trip down to barstow... Once I pick mine up my A1 will be for sale on craigslist... How was it getting into the base? Did you need a moving permit for the trailer?

Very nice trailer. and glad you brough up the trip. I spent 2 days traveling over 1000 miles round trip to get my trailers. Often times we quote costs, but not expense. It is some expense to pick these things up, plus the paperwork on the EIC, the wait, and other consideration like the manpower consumed in acquiring these items that really drive the cost up way over and aboe the initial purchase cost that is tagged to your visa card. I have more money in fuel fro trailering my vehicle up there for picup then the cost of the traier, with 14 miles per gallon going up and 10 miles per gallon coming back. Expenses are a killer. I have over 20 hours driving time in the cab for the pickup. And I''m not complaining here, just making an additional comment, these trailers and MV cost a whole lot more than the price stuck on invoice, which is the same price I am often guilty of quoting for costs.
Congrats on your purchase. Enjoy!
