When you use a lifting bar like this for the heads do you need to support the heads in the center of the bar?I always pull them together and maybe I've been lucky but I have never losened the manifold bolts. Someone told me that's how they do it at Memphis Equipment. Having the correct lifting bar and a gantry makes it all possible.

Nope, I just pulled some heads yesterday. Infact, I had a box end wrench made up and was worried about the weld breaking. As it turned out, the box end wrench shattered, not the weld. Also would a Crowfoot wrench work of the head bolts?
Well that is not good.Nope, I just pulled some heads yesterday. Infact, I had a box end wrench made up and was worried about the weld breaking. As it turned out, the box end wrench shattered, not the weld.
The one that broke I found in a parted out truck. I will make another for myself. I thought about using a 6 point(for strength), but there isn't enough room to rotate it, so I will probably use a 12pt again.
