I always use shell rotella 15w40. a friend told me that is the last oil made that still has zinc in it.

It is a modern pop-up very light. i would rather not add a underframe hitch to the M1009. i might try to make one myself.

Ordered belts. autozone had two of them in stock. third one will be in tomorrow. i will put them on all at once.

Military modelers seem to pay the most attention to detail.

Does anyone make a 4 bolt Reese type hitch to go where the pintle hook hitch goes on a M1009? i would like to have one to put on when i pull my small camper to events.

Im going to replace belts first. they are hardened from age. couldn't tell if they are slipping but it needs done anyway. then i will look at the blower motor.

I drove my m1009 yesterday. it was cold out so i turned the heater on and set the fan switch to the 3/4 setting. then i noticed the GEN 1 light was on. then i noticed the blower fan was not working. if i turned the fan switch off, the GEN 1 light would go out. when i got almost home, i tried it...

I want to thank everyone for all the help and great advice. i look forward to restoring this steel soldier to original condition and taking it to shows and parades. since it is retired from the army now i want it to have an easy life.:-D
