updated pics of my hemtt restoration

Let me do some research. I'd like to know what engine was in front of your transmission before the 8V92, the issue is interesting, since that trans lists having several torque converters and configurations based on the engine in front of it. Torque converters in diesels generally have HUGE...

Can somone look at this picture of my glow plugs

24v plugs are available at the parts store and it says 24V above the threads of bosch glow plugs... the thing about that wiring is obvious to me, it needs to be redone. Every wire should independently return to the relay. As another not, you should never ever convert to 12V plugs...no reason...

one last thing...if you made the mistake, its ok, it can be fixed, you will need to flush it, including draining the converter, which can be done on some of the rebuilt models by the drain plug on the converter itself...but not always.

updated pics of my hemtt restoration

I just looked in the manual, yep, latest specs have switched from 10W to 15W40 in ALL HEMTT M977 series ((that includes yours, even the 5 speed)) tranmissions. Furthermore, it includes the two available transmissions used in the PLS. Food for thought. One more thing. You want to use a...

updated pics of my hemtt restoration

if you can wait a few weeks ill be home from iraq and on leave, if you don't mind the freight on the heavy piece i actually KNOW how to rebuild the trans in a hemtt mech and electronic. Hmmm...are you sure your cooler isn't plugged? The heat from the transmission is almost totally from the...

updated pics of my hemtt restoration

As a 63 series in the army...you did/doing/will do things to a hemtt I quite frankly will probably never have the chance at. I read this thread from page 1 to now, I would love to take a trip out to have a look at it some day.

    A new section...HEMTTs

hemtts fall through when they dont meet the requirements for rebuild, however the only vehicles that dont qualify is the patriot missile tractors, the m978 cargos and original M984s OR m984E1 NOT the A1, I've seen all of the above on GL, usually from depots or reserve units where the machine has...

    Injector pump rebuilt update

1/4 turn on a stanadyne pump is fine, actually on 6.5 rebuilds the motor is detuned back to 6.2 hp of 150... however the 6.2 can tolerate a 1/4 turn without an issue, I will say this, change your mufflers for something free flowing, itll keep EGTs to an absolute minimum. the stock motor is...

    Location for Pyro installation

should be pre turbo at the point where the exhaust converges downstream towards the turbo. So at the center of that big ol iron log about 4-6 inches from the turbo inlet. Take the turbo off. Because it's so easy to do, just take it off... What those thousands of guys don't tell you is that...

    Bigger Exhuast

pyrometer thermocouple should be located 4-10" before the collector ((turbo itself)) you only need one, two is a waste of time, if you have problems with one bank being higher than another you've got entirely different issues requiring a diesel tech to look at it. couple things you need to...

    10 Ton Arctic test

my source at oshkosh truck says the rebuild lines ((the trucks waiting for rebuild)) even when it's -27 degrees...((yea, i guess its cold up there right now)), start without aid on the jump packs, i suppose thats not fair but thats how they do it with the trucks still mobile. Key to starting a...

Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) Vehicles

RE: Re: RE: Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) Vehicles I have an update on MRAPs, deployed they are heavy as hell but be damned if they can't take punishment, we had an EFP strike the armor of a truck, which the EFP was aimed at door level for a HUMVEE so it hit the lower hull and left not...

    HELP ME! I'm going MAD!

WHOA WHOA, IF YOU DO THAT THINK FIRST. Alright got your attention. Did you ever check the supply voltage to the TCM? If it's even a LITTLE off its gonna make the TCM act haywire. This is a problem on BRAND NEW FMTVs, where they act totally out of control with a TCM failure everytime they...

m998 glowplugs blow and hard to start

I'll bet he's using 12V glow plugs from an autoparts store, when he should be using 24V. Same thing happens when SSA sends us the wrong glowplugs, easy to figure out, because the right glowplugs come in the same box all 8 together that for CUCV comes 1 per that same box.

    Steering Knuckle Boots

Alright, let me through some advice out there, for a while the army was using a particular kind of 80/90 W oil and if the inner seal leaked it would not only be evident of the leak but when we replaced the axle seal, the boot was all gummy and usually in deseperate need of replacement but ONLY...
