I have hard shifting and long gear changes on the another M1009 I started Monday. The shifting on my M1008s are all smooth and (I would say) normally spaced for a diesel. I'm thinking there is too much ATF in it (stick shows too much) and perhaps a clogged filter. I have driven on the hiway...

Unhook the driveshaft, put the transfer case in neutral, unlock the column (don't put it in gear or neutral), don't tie off the steering wheel or the towed truck won't follow you (well).:-D Don't bother with trying to start it - hook up the tow bar and get off the base. Tires - I have six CUCVs...

CUCVs use the 1" feet; at least the four I have do and that's what I used on the medium TB I borrowed!
