    M4 High Speed Mess

So, I've been looking for another tracked armor project and ran across this. This is said to be a M4 High speed tractor, sorry for the bad pictures. To me, it looks repowered, why is the engine up front? Winch added, and either the tracks aren't original or it's missing all its rubber pads. It...

    8.3 Fan clutch rattle

I bought my first 5 ton a few days ago. 1991 BMY HARSCO M931 A2 WO/W, 8.3 Cummins, Drove it 160 miles home. No problems other than there seems to be a rattling sound coming from the fan clutch area when the truck is at operating temp and idling. It may go away while driving but I don't know...

    airdrop platforms

Just wondering if anyone has ever seen an airdrop platform or skid (not sure of the correct name for them) that a Humvee would slide out of a C17 go through a gov auction? Do the new JLTV's fit the ones used for the Humvees? Or do these take such abuse landing that they are not reused? I would...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Took out the troop seats and top bows. Painted the cowl induction hood and rims OD, set in a .50 cal pedestal mount to see how it would work. Needs to be about a foot taller I think...

    My early MK1 Ferret

I did alot of unpacking of boxes today that came with the Ferret. Started looking at the motor. Took down alot of numbers on data tags through out the body and engine. An interesting item was the generator: The Leece-Neville Co. Clevland Ohio USA Military Spec No: MIL-G-46795 Ordnance No...

    My early MK1 Ferret

Just bought this 1956 Ferret MK1. The front fenders and tool boxes have been removed but all came with it. Engine turns over (via the hand crank). The previous owner aquired alot of parts over the last 18 years that all came with it. Including a NOS starter, smoke dischargers, (2 lefts, I need...

Moving my M3 halftrack in the snow

Thanks Don, I've read all the posts on here, G503 and halftrack info well before I bought mine. You're right there's alot of good info. And actually having one here is a learning experience every day. Would you happen to have a picture similiar to the angle I shot of mine but of a roller...

Moving my M3 halftrack in the snow

Hard to say what that bumper is from. The frame was cut just forward of the leaf spring mount. I belive this is a winch model truck because of the pto. The middle lower radiator armor plate has a slight bend in it on the bottom like it was done on a brake but all the bolts have the slots pointed...

Moving my M3 halftrack in the snow

Thanks Kevin. I've been jumping back and forth between the two sites. I ran across a post over there about where the correct place was to mount the Fire extinguisher, and remembered seeing one between the seats in mine (loose) I had no idea it was original to the truck.

Moving my M3 halftrack in the snow

Thanks for the offer on the plate. I'm not sure which direction to go with this yet. I posted a wanted add in the classifieds on this site looking for armor and got a call. I'm going to look at some armor only about an hour away some time next week. They may have pulpit armor as well. What i'm...
