Mine does the same thing, bothered me at first too, but I could never find anything wrong, and it still did it after putting in fresh new batteries, so I just assumed it was normal.
If you still haven't solved this, double, double check your wire numbers and plug locations, and make sure they match up. I was having problems with one of mine and I would have sworn that everything was plugged in correctly, but it wasn't. If you check that again and all is good, it's likely a...
If you use the information in my post just above, you shouldn't have any problem getting the parts you need for the rebuild. They are all readily available from O'Reilly's or Napa. The only special tool you will need is the pitman arm puller. I spent half a day monkeying around with that pitman...
Great info, thanks! Maybe the $1K extra might be worth it. I like a nice ride personally. I would probably drive it more, although I love driving it now. I just try to avoid the highway with it now.
I didn't consider drivability of the tires, so you make a good point. Maybe someone that has changed from the military's tires to non-military can chime in as to any driving improvement with non-military tires. I know removing the run flats will make a difference, so I don't mean that way, but...
I have had people agree, and people disagree, so I honestly do not know? They say it stirs up sediments that get into the torque converter. It seems I'm not the only one to have heard this can happen but in my asking around, I get mixed responses. Guess I'm going to change my filter on the HMMWV...
I went to the Feltz site to see what was available and I can get a set of 4 Goodyear tires with 98% tread shipped to my house for about $800. That's not a bad deal and close to new tires really. They did say you may have to clean out some of the old run flat lubricant, but for a $1K in savings...
I have some experience with this, so that's why I brought it up. I have an old bronco and it was running fine, and I never had a moments problem with the transmission. I took it in for an oil and lube to my mechanic and he talked me into changing the filter on the transmission. I do believe he...
Additional question on transmission filter change. I was always told never to change the transmission filter in older vehicles if you are not having issues, as changing the filter stirs up a lot of sediments that later damages the transmission. This actually happened to my old bronco, so I've...
Did you find out anything on these tires? Any idea on prices? I would love a new set for mine. My set is still in rather good condition, but I need to remove the run flats. If I go to that much trouble, I would like to put a new set of tires on it and have them balanced well.
I feel for you guys. I'm just glad it's easy here. Like I said, after reading some of the horror stories, I was really concerned, but it was easier than getting a simple trailer titled and tagged here in MS. I had the darndest time getting a trailer tagged. I finally got it titled, but it wasn't...
