    Alternator help

I ended up going with the wolverine technologies alternator. I was talking to the guy and said he uses the delco 21 and 22, best pieces of both and makes them that way. I tried calling spider marine and they hung up on me twice. I spent more and for a better product overall. I looked into...

    Alternator help

My alternator burned up a few days ago. I looked into getting it rebuilt and was curious about the reliability of it then. I would also like to bump up the output if possible too. I found a few kits and what not online, I was just curious what everyone has done that has had this problem. I...

Snow chains for my 5 ton

I'm headed to play in the snow this weekend and would like to have some chains. Has anyone else decided to make a pair for the 14 r20 tires? Any tips would be appreciated!!!

    thermostat/cooling system issues

I found the thermostat at Kragen for $8 for that size engine. All I would need, from I was told, was the main gasket that fits in between the two pieces that lock the thermostat in. That's just what I was told from a mechanic friend

    thermostat/cooling system issues

Ya, that is still within normal ranges. Nothing seems to be coming from the over flow at all

    thermostat/cooling system issues

It's the m923 a2. I've tightened the hose clamps as need be, the first few times that's what I assumed it was. The fan came on two or three times when I was not under heavy load and not on a hot day. Which leads me to think I may have a different problem

    thermostat/cooling system issues

I have a 5ton that has suddenly developed a few leaks. Put maybe 1000 miles on it in the last few months with no issues to speak of and then a week ago it sprang four leaks in one afternoon drive. Started with the heater core, I bypassed that until i can fix it later. Then on on the right...

    marine injectors??

I have been searching around on here and can't seem to find all the correct info in one spot, so I'm hoping to get that done here. I am toying with the idea of getting marine injectors to get a little more oomph out of my truck. M923 A2 5 ton, 6cta engine, mechanic pump. So for the injectors...

M939 Front Axle Boot replacement.....how I did it.....

I need to do this on my truck, I was going to order it from memphis like the OP did. I noticed at check out that shipping is almost as much as the part. Is there any other options to purchase one of these? I can't find these very easily, also don't want to buy the wrong size!

    smoking batteries

So I checked everything I could think of. I checked the volts on the batteries, both in series and separate. I checked the load test on them too, both while hooked up and taken apart. I checked the charging system as well while running, both warm and cold, at idle and high sustained rpm's...

Ok. I'll try to get to that tonight and post the numbers. If not tonight then Friday evening

    smoking batteries

That makes sense. Would the truck have trouble starting if one bank is bad? It starts immediately every time and drives perfect. What is the procedure to find out which one is dead if they all test within normal volts for me? Should I test amps?

    smoking batteries

I used the multi tester, is that the same? The voltages stayed the same between them all connected, disconnected, on and off, running cold and hot, with all the lights and the cb radio running too. I'll see about the load tester at harbor freight when I get off work. Is that different than what...

    smoking batteries

I was thinking of installing a small bank of voltage meters. One for each battery and one for each bank, 6 total. I know it's a lot but this way I can keep real time info on all of the connections. I figure better to be safe than sorry. When I checked the voltage yesterday everything came back...
