MEP002 no fuel to primary pumps

Thank you all for the recommendations. I am in the process of cleaning the tank and components. Any suggestions for this process will be greatly appreciated. Some questions are: best solvent?, is lacquer thinner appropriate?, can nuts and bolts or a chain be inserted into the tank and rotated to...

MEP002 no fuel to primary pumps

When I pulled the bottom cap off the first lift pump the ball check valve was stuck. It loosened when I touched it. I closed it up and ran the pump and still no fuel. Its looking like the line from the tank is clogged. I fed the tank output line to the second lift pump and still no flow. I...

MEP002 no fuel to primary pumps

I am sorry for the poor description. I uncoupled the output hose (top) from the closest pump to the tank and had no fuel out with the pumps clicking and running. So my problem appears to be no fuel from tank through the first pump. I thought the second pump was to be a backup if the issue was a...

MEP002 no fuel to primary pumps

The last time I ran the genset the engine slowed down and stopped and could not start again. I found no fuel getting to the IP. I uncoupled the hose from the onboard tank to the first lift pump and no fuel exited with the switch in prime and run. Pumps are clicking but I can't determine which...

MEP002 starts and runs fine but on restart fail to start again until I wait an hour

After cool down of about a hour the unit restarted normally and I measured 24 volts from the solenoid to the starter and felt the solenoild kick in. So somehow the starter solenoid is not being activated after running for 30 minutes or so and will not work again until the unit cools down. Still...

MEP002 starts and runs fine but on restart fail to start again until I wait an hour

OK, with you guys (Dock and Chain) input I am looking at the starter. I can't get a jumper wire onto the positive starter solenoid terminal or positive starter terminal, too tight in there. So while in the no start mode (not cooled down enough yet) I measured the DC voltage on what appears to be...

MEP002 starts and runs fine but on restart fail to start again until I wait an hour

Hi again, I found a small bit of mouse nest in the box that contains the fuel shut off solinoid and cleaned it out and also blew out the engine fins from both sides with compressed air. I again started it and ran it for about 30 minutes with no issues, then when I imediately tried to restart it...

MEP002 starts and runs fine but on restart fail to start again until I wait an hour

thank you Chainbreaker. I do hold the start switch fully on, but the engine does not turn over at all, just that loud clunk. I will proceed to check the safety circuits and check for cooling air restrictions abd oil pressure.

MEP002 starts and runs fine but on restart fail to start again until I wait an hour

hi all, The last two times I started the MEP002 to check and charge the batteries it will not restart until I wait an hour or two. Then it starts and runs fine again. Upon trying to restart immediately after shutdown I hear a loud clunk noise near the front right side of the set (looking from...

Anyone along the East Coast without power right now?

thank you all for the tips. have not had a chance to check the float mechanism yet, but we got commercial power back in 5 hours. This was the first time I used the aux. fuel function so I'm glad to have discovered this issue before we have a significant black-out. This is a GREAT web site. Michael

Anyone along the East Coast without power right now?

Hi all, We lost power at 15:30 today and I fired up my MEP002A and everything worked well. I switched to the auxiliary fuel pump which is connected via hose to my indoor fuel oil tank, because the onboard tank was only half full. When I went out around 18:30 to check system status, I had red...

need fuel line for a MEP002

hi all and thanks again for the info. This is a great site. The rubber hose was attached to a brass barbed connector on each end, so it was a simple replacement with a reinforced rubber diesel compatible hose segment.
