    Changing all 4 belts.

I know this is an old thread, but since it references the quick connect mod I figured this applied. In an effort to not curse the AM General design team the next time I change the belts, I envisioned the quick connect mod. I thought it was my original idea, but a search through the forum...

Ran out of fuel on a HMMWV

dangood & bjones99, Man, this is one of the coolest fixes of any kind I've seen. Thinking outside the box at it's finest. This should work great with tractors, too. Awesome, guys!! TonkaT

    Factory HMMWV fuel line restrictor?

Are you guys aware of any factory ball checks or restrictors in the fuel line series that limit the allowable flow; sort of a governor. I was told they commonly removed these in the field to gain performance. Unfortunately it was a passing conversation and I didn't get any more detail. Was I...

Broke halfshaft in the field. Options please...

Glad you were able to get it going again. I can confirm that you have to drive in HL with the front drive shaft out. Otherwise the front driveshaft hub just spins, as you said. Mine's a rear-wheel drive only at the moment, too.

    Transfer case issue?

Straight from the wild, the front drive shaft on my M998 came off at the universal (strap bolts sheared). My thought is at some point, the truck had been towed with the driveshaft disconnected and it was half put back together. Regardless, I removed the front drive shaft completely so I could...

    H4 Headlight Conversion Issue

Dr. Z, Can you confirm the lens are glass? Also, do they come as a pair or singles? Does anyone know a NAPA number for standard bulbs and the 3-wire connector? TonkaT

    HMMWV Batteries

Unless you're running a ton of electronics without the engine running, any two good quality starting batteries will work. Ensure they are no greater in dimension than the originals. Especially the height; you don't want the bottom of the seat or seat studs to contact the batteries. TonkaT

    WOOOOHOOOOOO...!!! Got it home!

Alwayssunny, Don't worry, you'll have zero buyer's remorse. Keep in mind it's going to be a project. Only thing is I wish the seat gave a little more leg room. Got the old style three-position seat. Will look at mounting something else some day. But that's a little down the list, right now...

    WOOOOHOOOOOO...!!! Got it home!

Just an update. We're having a ball with the new addition to the family. My wife has been surprisingly accepting of the convertible "Jeep" she had been asking for. I explained how this is the vehicle Jeeps yearn to be (and I love my 89 Wrangler!). The biggest help is how much of a hoot her...

Patracy, good eye. You are correct, Sir. I'm in need of an alternator, as well. TonkaT

    WOOOOHOOOOOO...!!! Got it home!

I am WELL pleased with the condition. I didn't have too high of hopes, as this is understood to be a project machine. Just the typical dings here and there, body's good and all that CARC paint seems to have pretected the under belly and important stuff. Only difference than GP described is...

    WOOOOHOOOOOO...!!! Got it home!

Couldn't have gone smoother. Picked my "new to me" M998 up from the offsite yard (Warner Robins Towing) today. I rented a tilt trailer from Sunbelt Rentals. TIGHT fit getting the front tires through the fenders. Literally squeezed through. The towing company picked it up under the rear...

    HMMWV retrieval suggestions

DWagg, I picked up my M998 today from Warner Robins. I saw another one just itching to head to its new home! Lucky dog, you're getting a winch with yours. TonkaT
