2 month old split axle boots

I ran zipper boots from Antelope Valley Truck Parts. No problems for over 2 years. I eventually tore one on a big rock. I had removed the rock shields. My bad.

    OD Road Trip/convoy in California

We will meet at 9:30 AM on Wednesday February 28th in front of the Carl’s Jr. at the Escondido Promenade off of Valley Parkway in Escondido, CA. It’s real close to the I-15. It's a 3-day trip (five if you stay for the TDS Desert Safari Event) that will take us about 300-400 miles on- and...

    CA Historic Plates

Re: RE: CA Historic Plates Here's the catch in CA. You are only allowed to operate the vehicle on the road to and from a show or parade....there are alot of parades in my area  Plus, don't get caught with stuff in the bed. With a historical CA plate they can nail you for hauling...

Anybody want to take a guess at these fluid leaks?

How's my old truck doing? Still running strong? Yep. It keeps weeds from growing in a deuce-sized spot in my yard. And of course I embelished the story...maybe a little. Travver797: Thanks. I always wonder if people appreciate the torture/fun we put ourselves through. I did want a 5-ton...

Anybody want to take a guess at these fluid leaks?

Yep, you can do that. But also make sure the tranny isn't overfilled. Sometimes people will fill them through the shift tower (shifter stick removed) and they will accidentally overfill it.

    PTO

RE: Re: RE: PTO The dual output works independently of each other. The front shaft has 2 forward speeds and one reverse speed. The rear output is a single direction, single speed shaft. They are used on dump and water trucks for a hydraulic or water pump. I went through all the same thing, only...

    PTO

I have a NOS one. Never used. Rear facing output is single speed, forward facing output is two speed. I don't think I'm gonna use it. Make me an offer.

    OD Road Trip/convoy in California

We finally got off our butts and have been working on the Officially Unofficial Jp Magazine OD road trip. We currently have 7-9 vehicles confirmed plus any of you that can’t stand to miss an off-beat adventure. It will likely begin near Escondido, California February 28 and end in Ocotillo...

    Will this truck have rockwells?

Ohh, don't get me wrong, they are strong axles. 40-44 inch tires with a built small block and lockers will be fine. 52s and a big block (with lockers of course) and you'll see things snap. If that's the plan look into the 47-spline 2-inch Ouverson stuff. But then again it depends on the terrain...

    Will this truck have rockwells?

Here: http://www.jpmagazine.com/techarticles/154_0305_2_ton_rockwell_axle_install/index.html Like six pages of info. I had some on the truck below. The stub shafts will break long before the U-joints. And splines twist on the inner axles...and on the rear axles too. The Rockwell shafts are...
