Any of you folks running 14R20's with ECO hubs? Contemplating switching over, but a little concerned about further raising the gearing. Also curios about longevity and reliability of the Goodyear ORD's for those with experience with them.
I've been running that combo for ~7000 miles now and have been fairly happy with it. I only drove my truck maybe 5 miles with the original tires and hubs so I can tell you my experience with the Ecohubs/14.00R20s, but don't have a good basis for a comparison with the stock tire size.
With the original 275 hp tune it drove great for the most part and the only time I was left wanting was on long steep uphill grades where it would shed a ton of speed and struggle a bit, it is significantly better now with 370 hp. Acceleration around town and in traffic was fine but not inspiring, also much improved with 370 hp. I haven't done any low speed crawling yet so I can't comment on how that is affected by the taller tires.
The speedometer required a 5.6% adjustment to line up with GPS speed: (62618ppm/1.056)/2=29649ppm with Ecohubs. Fuel mileage has been great for what it is, I average around 10mpg. They seem to be wearing well, and at this rate I'd expect to get 30000+ miles out of them.
Minor issues:
*The spare doesn't fit well in the carrier as can be seen in the photo below. The crane arm will eventually need to be extended 3" to 4" for the tire to fit flush with the side of the box.
*They are a bear to balance, although that isn't unique to these tires and is likely also due to wonky steel wheels.
*They are quite loud at highway speeds, although again that is not unique to these tires. Tire noise is now the loudest sound in the cab since I've quieted down other parts of the truck with insulation and the Ecohubs.
*The Goodyear OTR tires sold by ColonyTire on Ebay are blemished/factory seconds with tread repairs. When I bought my set they weren't advertised as such, so I had to negotiate with them to get some money back. It looks like they are properly advertised now. The repairs do seem to be holding up ok so far.
