ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

I can’t answer for him but the same sealer meritor uses on the third member/ pumpkin/center chunk. It does a great job of sealing and when it comes to disassembling it breaks away much easier than RTV.

A good friends recommendation. He used it on his axles for other vehicles and had good success.

So I gave it a try. .

It’s expensive though.

I tried anerobic sealer years ago for a bunch of applications. It was less reliable in some situations. But worse, the cleanup on it is horrible in my experience.

If you want a "high tech" sealant, I would recommend Hylomar.

But it's unnecessary. Permatex "The Right Stuff" works great. It's available everywhere, and setup time till you can drive is 1 minute.

Yep, halve the pulses per mile for the speedometer if you have the stock 3.90 gears and 395/85R20 tires. The tachometer doesn't need to change.

Agree, I’ve travelled 25,000 miles on the 3.07 gears. But my last short trip with the newly installed eco hubs of 800 miles…..so so different sound level, much easier to have a conversation. The fuel mileage. Totally different experience.

If everybody can post their * loaded *mpg on here, with the conversion that would be a great way to show the Benefit to potential buyers.
Especially would like to hear from real trucks, the ones with 6 🛞 🛞 🛞 s, 13-15 tons.

My number to beat is 7.1-7.8 mpg full load, and
Includes plains and mountain driving.
( and I want to climb Ike and Powder River Pass faster than my mother in law with her nebulizer )

I know there are at least 3 or 4 6x6s that are full-time RVing across the country..
Only DtheG has eco that I know of.

I am just shy of 9.0 MPG at 28k #'s if I keep it under 65 MPH on the level when rolling down a freeway. Hills will slow me down a bit but never slower than big rigs. Mix in off road stuff and I am actually right about in your range. Over the course of a long weekend trip- like 4 days, 200 miles, mix of paved and dirt- I'll get around 8 MPG.

FWIW, I am seriously considering swapping back to 3.90's in the near future. The 3.07's make the shift to 6th happen at 65, but 3.90's would put that around 52 (if I math correctly). Keeping it in the power band in the high-50's seems like it'd be perfect for me. The 3.07's make me want to run 70 MPH...

I know the MPG doesn't sound like a HUGE delta, but the reduction in drivetrain speed was what made the decision a no-brainer on my end.

I’m 4 wheels 28,000 lbs 3126 with 330hp tune. With my 3.90 gears and eco hubs 6th gear shifts in around 60MPH. I tried grabbing 7th but after hitting 80mph I gave up. I topped off the 200 gallon tank and drove the 800 miles but haven’t filled it back up to determine the actual fuel mileage. But with the new BlueFire and watching the instant fuel rating I was getting around 9 mpg up from 6.5 mpg gaging it the old school way…fill up to fill up.

I have heard others do the same thing with swapping back to their original chunks.

I see high speed gears at cheap prices in the future, if many drivers go back.
Have you hit any high passes?

I just installed ECO hubs on a 30k lb C7 MTV with 3.07's this last weekend. That makes 5 trucks I've installed or assisted installing ECO hubs on. He does have the 370 HP M-ATV engine swap.

Zero complaints - definitely made his top three of best modifications. Climbs hills the same as before or faster. Fuel economy estimates are 9.8 mpg on first trip. Second leg the fuel economy dropped due to a 20 mph headwind but was still significantly better than previous trips with similar headwind.

How'd you set up the fuel monitor on the BLuefire?

I've yet to sort mine out.

Only flat roads so far here in Florida.
Blue Fire was just a lot of trial and error in the program.
