    Deuce purchase issue in California

I was adding that I talked directly to a Leo and he told me directly how him and the other officers around him would enforce such a situation. So yes it's a old thread, but I was adding current info to it. Still people will question the rules. I am driving out of class and have been for the...

    Deuce purchase issue in California

Chp told me since there is not a section for historic tag vehicles in the vehicle code, historic registered trucks fall into the same guidelines as commercial. So 3 axles over 6000 lbs is minimum class B non commercial "being historic you cannot legally be commercial". Now I'm sure when someone...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Fired up the m818 today, and ran it around our property to get the oil flowing and stuff since she has been sitting for a while. My dad was trying to pull down a 100 foot pine tree that is diseased and threatening to fall over on our office (already had the top of it fall and put a hole in the...

    Broken Rockwell Axle

All fixed, and so far the locker works great. The last pic is the 2 missing spider gears that were in the bottom of the housing. I had to scoop all the shrapnel out after draining the remainder of the gear oil. If I have to do this again, next time I will buy new nuts and studs to bolt the...

    Broken Rockwell Axle

Price was right. Other than that it was one of the first things to pop up when I was searching for Rockwell parts, so I thought i might as well upgrade.

    Broken Rockwell Axle

I decided to order a Yukon gear, grizzly locker instead of putting spider gears back in. Let's see how long it takes to break a stock 16 spline axle shaft now.

    Broken Rockwell Axle

It's sitting on the bumpstops now with just the rear tires on.

    Broken Rockwell Axle

The rear most axle sitting on the tires with the weight of the truck on 395s barely rub. When off-roading they rub more.

    Broken Rockwell Axle

I was gonna go with the ouverson 2" axles and locker kit, but I have a trip planned 2 weeks from now and need to get the truck up and running. Now that I know the weak link, I will be upgrading the axles in the near future.

    Broken Rockwell Axle

I finally had time today to tear into the broken axle on the deuce. Man what a task that was to get the chunk pulled out. One of the shafts was wedged in the carrier, and I had to pry it loose and use a mallet to get it out. The chunk was really sealed with 20 years of paint and gunk. Once I...

Can MRAP wheels be mounted "deep dish" style without flipping hubs?

I'm not a fan at all of the flipped hub look but that's just me.

    Broken Rockwell Axle

It wouldn't cost that much to install a small atv winch under the bed and have eyelets or pulleys over the rear chunks so in the future I could lift them out easy.

    Broken Rockwell Axle

Anyone have good ideas for lifting the chunk off the middle axle with the bed still on the truck? I was thinking about taking the middle axle tires off and letting the truck sit on the rears only. This would drop the middle axle low, so there will be more room to maneuver. Now as far as lifting...

    Broken Rockwell Axle

Read above post. Pass axle is locked in stuck. I can spin it by hand and it hits a hard spot and stops. Both shafts flop around like they are loose in the carrier. This is telling me that most likely the spider gears have broken apart. When I drain the diff I will be surprised if I don't have...

    Broken Rockwell Axle

Pulled driverside shaft and it looked fine. When I slid it back in, I noticed it was not catching anything. I am able to spin the shaft by hand with it all the way against the hub with the flange bolts not in. I'm suspecting spider gears at this point. Gonna try to pull the chunk this weekend...
