M923a2 Coolant System Drain and Flush:

Not from the factory on these, there are provisions, places to connect them. The early C series didn't need them. Mid stop liners, spun steel and not cast iron. Later in life, they had them from the factory due to changes in the way the stuff moved around and how the engine fired. However...

M923a2 Coolant System Drain and Flush:

There are provisions on the C for corrosion inhibitor installations. Two spots. The exhaust side has 2, soft plugs, these go into the lower and upper coolant cavities. Lower is high pressure, high is low pressure and rear of the block, same configuration. Cummins sells the fittings that go into...

M923a2 Coolant System Drain and Flush:

You should also replace #26, the seal. If it is compromised you will have slow warm up and low running temps. It basically bypasses the stat if it is junk. And, with an auto trans, that could be a bad thing because there should be a diverter plug installed so that when the stat is closed, there...

Why do I need DOT 5 brake fluid in my Deuce 1/2 ?

^^ What he says. I needed to do a MC when I first got my truck and just converted it to DOT3. Never looked back, no brake isues ever, well except an air pak! But it left me with 3 in it and as far as I know, still going. If I remember, it was used because DOT5 is silicone and will not absorb...

losing prime after a week m929

Yeah, that's right. 6.0 had to have op to fire. Same engine as the 444E Navistar IIRC, maybe that was 7.3, I forget. Puddy tat, same same, HEUI was their brain child. Did you know that the diamond no longer makes their own engines? MaxxForce killt that part of their business off, HEUI and...

losing prime after a week m929

I thought maybe a BF, but... Even modern electronic engines will still let things come to life with 0 OP, they'll just shut off after a few seconds ;)

Oil filter? How does that make an engine not fire?

    M54a1 Mack

If you think it's got a miss, go to harbor frt and buy a non contact thermometer. At cold start, hot is more difficult to pin point and if you run it and let it sit, heat soak comes into play causing a cooler spot to soak up the heat from other areas, measure the exh. temps on the manifold where...

Locating a part for the wrecker

Following are some pictures of the cable end. I slpit the nut just to get it apart just because curiosity kills me. You can see on the nut that it is bent and has been split through the hex for a long time. You can also see that the nut is bent as well as the wedge. The wedge halves are bent...

Locating a part for the wrecker

I'll snap a pic tomorrow. The truck was a NG unit, new 1953, overhaul at TEAD in '73, delivered to NG sometime in '74, the Museum acquired it around '79-80. NG unit made it look nice, but FILLED it with Bondo. Pieces parts missing, the rear winch station clutch lever at the trans, vice, some...

Locating a part for the wrecker

This is what we have, didn't know about the different lay. I do have a p/n. I was going to try Memphis. I have not looked out back, there might be a winch or some cable just baking in the sun. I'll check that tomorrow.

Locating a part for the wrecker

I did look at those, and they requier a piece on the end of the cable to lock it in. There is a liquid that can be mixed and poured onto the socket. This will be a last resort. But thank you!

Locating a part for the wrecker

I have looked, Oshkosh doesn't have any, Eastern Surpluss has none, both show on their sites, but not in stock. Who else might have the rear winch socket? I did put up a parts wanted ad.

    M6 Rolling Wheel Liquid Transporter

That is so funny! I actually searched for "Highway Products Incorporated" and, there IS a company, out of Or. named that, that manufacturers fuel transfer products! I contacted them, a very nice lady answered, we chatted, I sent 3 images off to her as well as a link to this thread, and she sent...

    M6 Rolling Wheel Liquid Transporter

Dunno if I would trust the tires, they are checked pretty bad. This thing is 2 years younger than I am and I am sure the tires, bladders, whatever they are called are original! I can find nothing on this on the interwebs
