You have to take into consideration whom you are talking to. :D
He does stay very busy. He helped me replace an axle boot on my 932 yesterday. And that's after we re-arranged SWB's big barn!!!
I have half of my lug nuts torqued exactly to specs. The other half are my best guess, based on the feel of the correctly torqued ones. I have yet to see a left handed torque wrench that registers 450 ft/lbs. I have a right handed one that's on loan from a very good friend.
An airbag suspension on a steer axle would be a risky proposition, unless it was used as some type of overload and not the sole support of the front axle. Losing an airbag on a drive axle is bad enough (been there, done that). The thought of that happening on a steer axle makes me cringe. At...
I removed both of my strainers with a vise-grip chain wrench. Far better option than the pipe wrench. The strainers are a PITA when fueling. They make fuel splash all over the place. I purchased locking fuel caps from an SS vendor and I love them.
Robo- As far as the rally is concerned, pack light. I am positive that anything you could need will be provided for you at no cost. Don't be afraid to tell us what you need. Once you get there and meet us, you will see how easy we are to get along with. I guarantee you will be impressed with...
Now I can attach a pic. This is the type I am looking for. I still have the original mirrors that came on the truck. I may have to use them until I can find a match.
I am also looking for a right side mirror for the 932. I broke the square convex mirror. Don't need any bracketry, just the lower convex part (not the round type). I am willing to buy 2 mirror heads if available. There is a left and right.
I am looking for a set of 6 Michelin XZL 14.00-20 tires. 90% or better. Not an immediate need, but wanting to know if there are going to be any good deals at the rally.
There are volumes of info here specific to CUCV's and 1009's in particular. Spend every minute you can reading the TM's and forums. Absolutely anything you could ever want to know is here. Try to attend a rally or two. I highly suggest the upcoming Georgia Rally. Guaranteed to please and impress.
