Another way to go is a 115 V 3000 amp sine wave inverter. Then for $130 at Home Despot or Lowes get a small airtool air compressor with storage tank. Then you can always carry pressure even without firing up the unit.
Keep the engine running and attach to the battery of your choice and it should be fine as long as you run a decent gauge cable.
IMHO
Any thoughts CamO?
Upon my return to California to work on my M 1165, I have decided to take sheet metal and attach it from the bar above the oil cooler all the way to the underside of the cab that supports the hood when it is closed. I will use aluminum or stainless steel, to avoid rust and corrosion. It is my...
Mogman and I both purchased military jet fuel balloon inflation devices. They come with two high performance 24V compressors. Disassembled, one compressor to a vehicle is more than enough to blow more air than a politician in an election year.
Seems like something you should look into.
Mog, do...
Still waiting on my January purchase. But I’m in no rush. M1165 has been kicking my a$$. Fortunately I have been lucky enough to work with Eric, the HMMWV whisperer .
To quote a great friend of mine as a message and sign off appreciation to all you good citizens, “thank you for paying your taxes on time, to allow people like us to buy amazing machines like these”.
Went for a short adventure with Eric/Hummer H1 and his amazing fiancé Aubrey.
Great power. Fun time. Ate some of Eric’s dust, but it’s all good. The 30% decline dirt road was fun.
Some more work like glow plugs and seats and doors and sound deadening BUT adventures can begin and that crap can...
Horsepower and turbo whine are back. Attached the down pipe to turbo. Nothing else behind. Wired in place temporarily as support. Sound was not too loud. Turbo to down pipe still leaks exhaust a bit so it will need a gasket.
Went on my first real trail with Eric in the lead. Ate some of his...
I’m about to go through the same Hell. One of mine snapped at the head. #8.
Going for a test drive. Starts easy today as 60 degrees. Winter chill will change that.
Considering a Webast for Winter starts. Eventually I must pull this bad boy and any other annoying ones. I hate the idea of...
Agree with above. Best leave alone…
If you must, the GP is hollow and you can try easy out. You can tack weld the rounded plug to a ratchet and then blowtorch to loosen and remove.
Worst case is remove the head and drill and tap
Looks great! In my hands, thick body filler over time tends to crack. Lead might work BUT you need a respirator.
JB weld soaked gauze might also do the trick.
Excellent idea. Maybe the less mechanically inclined should use a pliers to hold the soap near the belt, or else count fingers before and after the test and them compare the numbers…
Seriously, awesome method to check belt.
There is another option…
Hummer H1 just went out and bought Aluminum and made a custom top. Looks amazing. He frequently posts pictures, so I will copy one below. He made a flying nun style roof.
You can also fabricate a roll cage and then attach a custom top. Probably save thousands.
This was an original civilian H1 HMC4 top repurposed and stripped down by Uncle Sam. HMC4 civilian tops can be had for at least $5K, or so I am told.
No idea about military part number, but I bought this rig from RWH, and he might have a better idea of where to look for part numbers. (Thank you...
Thanks MaxJeep1.
In conclusion, Eric and I did what MaxJeep1 describes. We removed unit single piece by piece. We then tilted the muffler by pivoting it on the rubber support to get access to the rubber support. We then cut the rubber muffler support rubber to get around pulling the stupid...
My M1165 has a Hummer HMC4 top. Others have the top and rear curtain as posted.
My point is that there are at least two iterations. Make sure you get parts for one and only one version.
