There are various diagrams in the technical manuals of different parts of the truck, which are available for download for free on this site. The hoses you are referring to are usually called "slobber" tubes. They aren't necessary, they just vent any oil or blow by under the truck instead of...
In regards to your lights, if the 5 ton trucks use the same three lever switch that my deuce does, on the top lever, one click to the right is brake lights, turn signals. Two clicks to the right is all of the above plus headlights, tail lights. The lever on the bottom left controls your dash...
I seem to be against the grain with my opinion here, but I think it was a fair deal. Not great, but even with all new interior, you just can't get a truck to look that new. Even if you had to replace every seal, hose, belt, and anything else that was rubber, you would still be in it for less...

Maybe my butt is just tougher than y'alls, lol but I don't mind the standard box seat. I drove it home from Montgomery Al, about 10 hours, stopped a few times for food/drinks, but I didn't mind the seat too bad.
So if I read that right, you pulled the air filter out, and the pipe on the fresh air side of the turbo? Or you pulled the air filter and the pipe off the exhaust? And it still does it?
